If Pendles actually thinks players like Dusty can't live a 'life' in Melbourne on 300+K a year then what is he saying about the quality of life for the vast majority of Australian's. The Median (average) wage in Aus is less than 70K a year. I'm not arguing that some players don't deserve more money, but the logic is a little insensitive and privileged. The argument from AFL players association shouldn't be about increasing the wages of the top players in the AFL but instead those that are either on base payments or even those in grades below. That will do the most to actually improve the quality of games over time.

Compared to other sports leagues, AFL players have a really low salary.. Probably 1/10th of NBA and Soccer players.. The weirdest part of it is that the Executives get paid more.. That's simply ridiculous

Kane not rating Rowell. Seriously Kane you were a tagger, a position that wouldn't get a game in mpdern footy. Doesn't matter if it's SEN or Channel 9 this guy only bags blokes and talks up Port players, he is just a pessimist in every aspect of his life.

Too many Clubs……. Soon to be 19 …… should be 16 no more. If there was 10% more of the income spread across 16 teams. Players would much better paid , football departments would be far better funded and the standard of players playing the game would be better. The draw would be far fairer. State level games would be stronger….. VFL, SANFL, WAFL etc.

Kane’s comments about Rowell really don’t look good after last nights incredible game.
Kane said he doesn’t rack up enough touches for a guy that plays only midfield – he gets 29.
Kane said he gets too much contested not enough cheap uncontested ball – he gets 13 contested the rest uncontested (over half!)
Add on to that his 8 inside 50’s (the most in that game), TEN score involvements (2nd most in that game), and THREE goal assists (by far the most in the game, no one else had more than ONE!). Don’t forget about the 610 meters gained (2nd most in the game), his usual great clearance game – this time he had 6. Oh! And let’s definitely not forget about his SEVENTEEN tackles!
That is an absolutely terrific all around game that any midfielder in the comp would be proud of and this is from a guy who hasn’t even played 50 games yet. So Kane can think he’s a one-trick pony but Rowell let’s his game do the talking!
