If in the modern game, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young could be Man United's starting centre backs in 2018, while keeping the most clean sheets in the league, then Beckham and Giggs can certainly play as wing-backs. Beckham would be a better version of Trent, he's probably a better defender.

I can see why gary did so well with valencia, his tactical explanations are ludicrous. Also he was a mediocre right back, good only in the English context, terrible when compared to the cafu, maldini, thuram, zanetti, etc….
Disgraceful how Ivanovic doesn't ever get a mention. Sure, longevity is a factor, but for 5 or so seasons, he contributed more going back and forward (pocketing the best wingers and making significant attacking contributions in trophy winning campaigns both domestically and in Europe) than either Neville or Zabaleta
