John Daly | Chronicles of a Champion Golfer

A redneck, blue-collar dumb*** like me goes and wins The Open at St Andrews. It’s awesome.”

There is only one golfer who could possibly have uttered these words – The Open Champion of 1995, John Daly.

Few golfers have made more off-course headlines than Daly, but it was the American’s flaws which endeared him to golf fans – and non-golf fans – around the globe.

The newest episode of the iconic Chronicles of a Champion Golfer series, covers one of the most storied careers in golf. Daly was the People’s Champion.

  1. These have been done so well, each champion has his personal soundtrack to where they cand from…..like a ridley Scott western, utterly brilliant…..and daly, what a player

  2. Better than most. I saw him in ‘95, he was the only player who spoke to me on course when I worked at the Open in ‘96, and I’ve seen him many times since and have always been impressed by his demeanour, and his talent right through the bag. He’s an important part of golf’s rich history.

  3. This is the most emotionally enjoyable experience in golf. In his words: "It just fills your heart." …then I was there at St. Andrews in 1995.

  4. He talks about great long 2-putts on Sunday 1995, but the thing I'll never forget was the soft handed SILKY chipping. Never seen anything so full of 'feel' in my life. He was far from all booming drives. His putting and chipping was pure artistry.

  5. Of all the golfers who have ever played the game, what percentage have won 2 majors? You're one of the greats John Daly.

  6. I absolutely love these episodes. Have watched several many times. All unique and inspiring
