HIGHLIGHTS | Manchester City vs Arsenal (4-1) | Premier League

We saw our lead at the top of the Premier League cut to two points after second-placed Manchester City ran out winners at Etihad Stadium.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring just seven minutes in, before John Stones added a VAR-assisted second just before half-time, with the Belgian completing his brace nine minutes after the restart.

Rob Holding would pull one back five minutes from the end, but Erling Haaland netted with virtually the last kick of the game to ensure our 10-match unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end.

The first half was one-way traffic as the hosts – on a six-match winning streak – tested us time and time again, and we soon found ourselves behind. Haaland held the ball up and found De Bruyne, who burst forward and switched the ball onto his right foot to arrow a low shot in the bottom corner past the outstretched arm of Aaron Ramsdale.

The City duo were the main threat throughout the half, and the goalscorer would once again break through in similar fashion – but an excellent sliding block by Ben White prevented De Bruyne adding his second.

Then began a personal battle between Ramsdale and Haaland, which started when the division’s leading marksman slipped between two defenders but scuffed at our number one, who then had to beat away a fierce volley by the Norwegian striker as City cranked up the pressure.

Our only sight of goal in the first half arrived after 34 minutes, when Thomas Partey took aim from the edge of the box but failed to hit the target, and soon after, Haaland was at it again when he found space and burst forward but bent his effort wide of the post.

He continued to keep Ramsdale busy, and five minutes before half-time Jack Grealish wriggled his way along the touchline and picked out Haaland, but Aaron made a good stop with his legs before hacking the loose ball away.

It looked as though we would get into half-time trailing by just one, but then a heartbreaker arrived. In stoppage-time, De Bruyne sent a free-kick to the back post where Stones was waiting to head past Ramsdale, and after it was initially flagged offside, VAR intervened and sent us into the break 2-0 down.

After the restart it was the same old story as Haaland and De Bruyne continued to be at the heart of all City’s most dangerous moments. The striker went one-on-one with Ramsdale and was once again denied – but despite that, it was virtually game over after 54 minutes.

De Bruyne latched onto an under-hit Martin Odegaard pass and found Haaland, who picked the right time to play it back to his team-mate. He expertly controlled the pass and slipped the ball past Ramsdale to get his second of the night.

We needed something quickly to give ourselves any glimmer of hope and Holding saw a shot deflect just wide after a goalmouth scramble, but after that, a skied Bukayo Saka free-kick and a shot across goal by substitute Eddie Nketiah failed to trouble Ederson.

However we did pull one back with five minutes remaining when Leandro Trossard cut inside from the right and got into the box, and the ball fell into the path of Holding who produced a neat finish to beat City’s Brazilian keeper.

But in the final seconds, Phil Foden teed up Haaland who finally got the better of Ramsdale to score his 33rd league goal of the season to round off a disappointing night that saw the gap at the top of the table reduced.

  1. Arsenal did not lose the premier League with this game. It lost the league about two months ago with losses and worthless draws against league tail enders and relegation candidate. If Arsenal had won those lost and drawn games, it would have won the league even if it had lost 10-0 to Man City. This wilting at the end of the lap, in addition to poor start offs (though not this season) are what Arteta really have to fix. I've criticised Arsenal's defence the whole season. Can't remember a time they kept a clean sheet. Arsenal need a defence coach who can instill an appreciable degree of meanness to their game.

  2. Well at least we did better than last season, managed to trouble City in he late stages of the game

  3. This Arsenal team can’t even play😢 . How they knocked out in uel and also very close in the way to losing the premier league trophy. They should learn something like how to play unprecedented football from Man City . They really disheartened me.😢

  4. Pep Guardiola is really lucky as a manager he got great players in every team he managed at barca he had Messi at Bayern he had Lewangoalski,Müller,Neuer,Robben and more whole team was great there and here at Man City KDB and Haaland and Rodri Ruben Dias and Laporte aswell even without João Cancelo they look outstanding even with Nathan Aké at LB or three at the back

  5. I feel sad for Arsenal but tbh Arsenal have performed above expectations and Xhaka proved himself that he's a key player Ødegaard has been amazing Jesús is no doubt player of the season for Arsenal 2nd 1st is Bukayo Saka the no.7 has done a great job England's Future Star

  6. How to win PL – MC recipe: buy the best of the best players, and when that doesn't show the resault, give the team ahead of you player which going to sabotage them (fyi Zinchenko)

  7. I Fans The Gunner's From Central Java Indonesia 1980-2023,2024,2025,,2026…… Comments Not Like Coach M. Arteta "Sorry" . I Like Best The Best King's Coach The Gunner's Arsenal # Arsene Wenger Best Thropy Arsenal ***. Wenger Help Come To Back Coach Arsenal

  8. The positive side:
Arsenal is now officially a team City has to use their A-team against, he probably played the same team he will play against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, we are that much of a threat. ESR , Jorginho, Trossard, Nelson and Holding combining for that sweat goal. Our team B is trying to break in the A team and managing it. That is depth. There's a positive side to the whole experience and we can choose to remember it as a positive moment use it as fuel to keep going.

  9. I comment here before about Arsenal winning the league 10 times in next 10 years , but actually i don't demand or i don't ask club for trophy , this season fine season some good matches so far , i don't proud of anything this club include too, and i don't want to give this club a job if club play good and i watch it i enjoy but if club play bad my time would be waste , if someone ask me how many trophy you like to this club win I will answer nothing, but if club act disgusting then i have to turn my back to club

  10. Saliba's injury —> Ben White's very well as a central defender but why not?????????. (Let's see how WHITE <-> HAALAND). FAN ARS😭❤

  11. Such an assna fan that commentator was lmao. Complementing arsenal goal but becomes a mute when City scores

  12. The reality is that we need a better goal keeper, Ramsdale has dissapointed us, he is short, heavy and lacks ball direction anticipation, he makes so many mistakes, he was slow to a loop ball which costed as the Europa tournament, he blind passes, he over steps away from his line, low pass accuracy, some goal keepers read the game and do long ball assists for example Alisson Becker to Salah, we shouldn't always start the ball from behind sometimes we need to do long balls and let all the hustle start from forward. In the Man City game I was disappointed because I expected Trossard to start and in goal be Matt Turner, please check the replays of previous games with CIty like FA match and the premiere league match at Emirates, Matt Turner made a lot of saves, he was so quick reactive, the game was so touch for City in that only there defender (Ake) is the one who broke through, Turner conceded only one goal and but Ramsdale a total of 7 goals in two games against Man City of which both "Kevin De Bruyne and Haaland" scored agains Ramsdale but failed with Turner, this is pure statistics and we need to give chance to Turner and let Ramsdale come from bench incase things go wrong as a test method, we need to do something different, Mikel or else get us another goal keeper in the transfer window. it's not common to replace Goal keepers without injury so it's up to you to do something different because we already lost Martinez (Aston Villa). in our last game with Man City, you had to use the same squad as for the FA Cup Match, using the match visuals one can see how TROSSARD could easy break through City's right wing and make City's backs dance to his tunes, and our consolation goal with last match with city came after him entering the field and after a little aggression play against City Stars, we need some tackles and fouling technics sometimes just like Manchester United's Casemiro especially against broad opponents like City, the first goal was Ramsdales' mistake due to lack of ball anticipation and those who escorted Kevin De Bruyne, they could have fouled him before he went too far, we can't always play a clean game without fouls, Mikel. teach our players to foul professionally incase there is threat if not purchase better defenders who are similar to SALIBA. Anyway let's focus on our remaining games and ensure that we win them all.

  13. Manchester city 3x premier champions and uefa cup as well arsenal trash since they got rid of Alexander lacassete 💯 🏆

  14. Don't forget… Man city may still be docked points for their charges for the breaches of financial rules. Man city would probably need a 15 pt lead to be secure of 2022/23 PL TITLE 😂. So Arsenal still has a good chance ❤🎉
