Dean Smith says James Maddison should be fit to return for Leicester’s crucial Premier League game away to Leeds on Tuesday.

The creative midfielder missed the home win over Wolves at the weekend due to illness, but Smith said ahead of the trip to Elland Road: “Madders did a gym session and will train today. I’d expect him to be available.”

Leicester are currently 17th – one point and one place behind Leeds – and they could also be boosted by the return of Harvey Barnes on Tuesday.

“He’s available for selection,” said Smith. “He’ll train again today and if there are no after effects, he’ll be available.”

Jamie Vardy will also be involved against Leeds despite sustaining an injury worry against Wolves, with Smith explaining: “His ankle is fine. He’ll be training this morning.

“He’s available for selection which is important for us.”

However, Jonny Evans is again set to be absent, with Smith saying: “Tomorrow will be too soon for Jonny.”
