Inside Justin Barcia’s Factory GASGAS MC450F

#motocross #dirtbike #supercross #racing #sports
Justin Barcia has an all new bike for 2023! GASGAS has finally made the transition to the new platform that we saw Husqvarna and KTM go to last year. The bike has a new frame, engine, sub-frames, exhaust, fuel tank, swing-arm and more. We talked to mechanic Cody Champagne to go over what the team has done to the all new bike for Justin Barcia. Its clear that Justin likes the bike and is very comfortable on it! He has been extremely competitive all season long and the TLD crew has figured it out. GPS, custom foot-pegs, custom buttons, hidden start button, launch device on fender, push button throttle body, over sized radiators, custom seat, and more!

  1. Did you notice Chase Sexton's handlebars now have the ends of his grips pointing down, (the natural position of the hands), and he is not crashing as much?
You will. That will be the next handle bar design, replacing your ape hangers. I just rotate my bars back where they were before freestyle and rhythm sections.

  2. Those 52mm forks look super rigid, (flex wise). They don't have any taper below the lower triple clamp, just a straight diameter down from there.
There are a few factors there, (including the clamps I bet), that justify that design.
Can we trust MXA to interview a fork engineer at WP to understand the reasons and challenges for the big tube 52mm fork design?
That would be some "inside" information that we can already see on the outside, if we know that what we are looking at is different enough to question.

  3. Great job last weekend Justin and Cody with the SX win on a muddy track at East Rutherford!
Finally, we had a track that separated the talent, —————————————————————so we can see who has the most. 🙂

  4. It's a funny thing MXA, that my slightly lowered YZ250 corners better than any pro bike in the pits. 🙂

  5. 4:26 That shifter is made from billet aluminum, CNC machined from the design that was drawn on a computer drawing/machining program. Those marks you see on the surface are from the ball nosed end mill that cut the stock to that shape, the finish/last cut. There is over 200 years of accumulated knowledge that goes into making what we now make. It's a beautiful piece of work.

  6. 5:04 Ohh, great looking Ti pegs. No mud will get suck in there. But I just can't get the image out of of my mind that in a crash, it can act like a hot Ice cream Scoop on the soft human body.

  7. Sounds like Justin is using the clutch like a 125/250 in the 2-stroke days. if it has brutal power out of corners, he is probably controlling it with the clutch while keeping the throttle on.

  8. But the question is, is he going to like the aluminum frame next year after this bike?
I am not going by a reliable source, that they are going that direction next year though.

  9. That “RPM Reader” is highly suspect too me. If that box can secretly sense the front wheel speed… I bet they could write an amazing TC Map with that data tapped into the ecu.

  10. isn,t it a risk running stock levers as opposed to pivot style levers which are less prone to breaking?
