  1. Great show Dan, I enjoyed learning about some of the processes greenskeepers go through to make the course playable and I appreciate you highlighting the hard work they do.

  2. Those boys know what there doing! Churston is always in great condition with amazing greens! If your ever down the south west be sure to visit for a game

  3. Really enjoyed that and learned a couple things as well. Bless all the keepers for literally laying the groundwork for our benefit.👏👏👏

  4. Great Show you need to get Ash on the channel playing sometime. Would be interesting to see his thoughts as he plays a course he maintains.

  5. I have a lot of respect for all those green keepers, Another job taken for granted. Many years ago it was the suffolt colt mower used on greens.

  6. I've not seen the game 'Wolf' played on a YouTube channel yet. I'd like to see that played between you gents while in France.

    #Louve

There are some decisions to be made on the tee – such as when to go the 'Lone Wolf' route to earn all the points – that would demonstrate player skill level as well as how each player approaches a certain hole design, whether it suits their eye or shot shape and whether they can then capitalize on that confidence.

Sort of like the 'Sixes' game that I have seen on YouTube for 3-player vlogs, but with the potential for a bit more… bravado.

  7. Really interesting look at all the work that the greenskeepers put in to make the course look and play as well as possible – a group of skilled professionals who don't always get the credit they deserve.

  8. Excellent 25 minutes viewing. So good to see the hard work and knowledge that goes into preparing the courses for our enjoyment. Here's a revolutionary thought – this video to be mandatory viewing for any new golfer before they set foot on a course. Even more revolutionary – every golfer . . . :O)

  9. Always enjoy the Sunday Morning Show and always enjoy knowing what the greens Keepers do. Their job is hard and under appreciated by most golfers. Cheers to all of them. Congrats on starting a tournament in honor of your father. Has to make Paul and you very proud. Looking forward to your videos coming out this week. What I’d like to see on these videos are the course management reasons why each golfer is doing what they’re doing. Ex. Why the club choice? Besides distance, is it because of the lie, slope, rough, wind direction and strength, the shot shape, and target you’re aiming at? Cheers

  10. Masters. – 6 3 hole stroke play tournaments. Must win one of the first five tournaments to qualify for the masters which consists of the last 3 holes. Figure out a playoff system – we usually simultaneously start the next tournament and have a playoff for the prior tournament. Masters playoff either goes an extra hole or plays from 100 yards depending on what is going on at the course.

  11. Loved it Dan! No getting away from it – it is a harsh life being either a Pro or Greenkeeper and so much is taken for granted by members.

  12. I really enjoy the behind the scenes look at a golf course, Dan. We often take for granted the conditions without knowing the work and financial commitments behind them.

  13. Loved that. I’m a real fan of golf course maintenance videos. It’s addictive watching hollow core and solid tine aeration. If you have the ability ti show us more golf course management I’m sure it would be really popular.

  14. Great vlog dan unsung heroes of looking after the course, my humble opinion is anybody that complains should be taken on the course a few times to show how much has got to be done as regards of certain golfers not replacing divots, pitchforks, raking bunkers,as regards to club championships I may be wrong didn't paul win the st Mellion club championship I think it was 3 or 4 times , all the best 😊

  15. I’ve always loved the Les Dunes course at Hardelot golf course near Le Touquet. We try and vary the courses we go to on our France trips but that’s one we go back to every year. That second shot over water in the 18th is great fun – I reckon only 50% of the 16 of us stay dry……..😅

  16. I worked for 10 years on the turf side, before I turned pro. I want to go back to it…and still keep my pro status. Working on it.

  17. I always like when you boys draw a game from the bag. But I would add Herman and Sherman for a bit of fun 🤣👌

  18. I live in NC, USA and we hate poa. It seems like it comes up and then dies in the heat. Makes putting bumpy. I know Paul won't like it, but a 4 man scramble would be fun just to get everyone a little confidence going in to the new season.

  19. Recent bunker changes at our course here. Bunkers scrapped, a one foot deep/one foot wide drainage dug, bunker field with an “oatmeal like” concrete mixture with sand on top. They say this “oatmeal-concrete” mixture will keep the sand from washing out and in good condition. We shall see, but the sand on one that I hit into was perfect: not too deep and not too thin, just right.

  20. love seeing the behind the scenes guys who keep the courses running and in good shape. i think we get spoiled seeing these crazy clean, perfect courses on tv . then expect that out of all our local courses especially here in Pennsylvania. as for the golf content. i just like seeing good and bad golf between the guys with lots of sarcasm and ball busting lol

  21. Very interesting sir ,

Got me thinking 💭 so I am after some advice from you or any of the DHG community

I’m looking to change my career path, I want to work in/ around the golf industry
Career background from me : helicopter engineer for 8-10 year after I left school . Changed to a corgi heating engineer for a few year . Changed again about 15 years ago into the pharmaceutical industry making drugs ( ended up in the management side )

If any of you have been kind enough to read the above info …. What would you suggest as a Segway into golf industry?

I want to love what I do everyday

Also love working/ developing relationships with people

Answers are on a postcard ( showing my age😂)
Thanks in advance for any feedback

  22. Visit Italy. Piedmont region. We have some great courses here. 😂👍👍🇮🇹🇮🇹🍷🍷🍷

  23. What a really interesting show, Dan. Too many golfers gripe at the green keepers for tiny imperfections on the course (more often as a way of diverting blame from a bad shot or mi-read putt) but this 25 minutes has shown what an amazingly complex job they do and how skilled they are at maintaining our great sport. To keep courses open through this last winter must have been a real trial for the crews so hats off to all of them.

  24. Interesting look at the green staff and how they manage there work load, thinking outside the box and not afraid to get the right companies in to help, I’m a big fan of green staff playing golf as well, gives them the rounded view of the course and game 👏 Since the end of Covid my course no longer gets the staff in before comps due to monies but makes a massive difference to the paying members in board comps, something I’m going to propose again to the club..

  25. When playing as a fourball, we sometimes play a format, that we know as Sunningdale Pairs (it may have other names). You play 4BBB off scratch and as soon as one pair goes 2 down (or more) both players get a shot on the leading pair. If they get back to 1 down they lose their shot and it goes back to scratch. Whenever we play it invariably goes down to the 17th or 18th hole.

  26. I'm really loving the new Sunday Morning Show. It is amazing how much work goes into course maintenance and Ashley really knows his stuff. Really interesting! I'd like to see how you all would play if you had to use someone else's clubs. Maybe a random swap of the whole bag including balls, for 9 holes. Looking forward to everything!

  27. Great insight into "some" of the work done by our greenkeepers, which is not appreciated by golfers, in general.

  28. Dry enjoyable vlog Dan. A great bit of understanding for us club golfers as to what goes on behind the scenes from a greenkeeping standpoint.
