Leicester manager Dean Smith in his first press conference at he club:

“The main reason why I took the job on was because Craig Shakespeare and John Terry wanted to come with me as well.

“I looked at the squad and the fixtures and there are games to be won and points to be grab where we can climb out of the bottom three.

“It’s a season that I’ve never seen before in the Premier League where at one stage nine teams are involved in relegation side of the league. I feel the more we can keep in that as well, it’s not insurmountable to get out of the trouble we are in.”

“We can’t get away from losing seven out of the last eight games. Confidence will not be high. I watched the Bournemouth game – if I was 80:20 to taking the job then, I went down to 50:50.

“But I know the players. I’ve come across them before, I’ve played against them and I felt they needed a lift. With the three of us coming in, I was confident we can give them a lift.

“The first three days we’ve had with them, we’ve seen great quality and enthusiasm and we’re trying to put smiles on the faces. I’m a big believer of if players go out with smiles on their faces, they can lift confidence growing quickly.”

  1. This will be an important time for Dean Smith. It will prove whether he is good enough to be a Premier League manager or not. Good luck to him.

  2. I think they will stay up, Shakespeare
did a great job when he was last here,Terry will have a defenders mentality, and hopefully stop the leaking of goals, and Smith did a
reasonable job at Villa ! Don't think
we'll get a result tomorrow, but as long as we give it a go,won't be too disappointed, just got to beat the 3 or 4 teams down there with us !

  3. Please give Leicester the lift needed by getting a result against City. It would really boost the chances of staying up.

  4. I think Maddison and Tielsman leaving. Don't think Leicester will have many top players left soon.

  5. A staggering appointment, utterly bonkers, such a shame that they'll now get relegated as a result, feel so sorry for the Leicester fans now.

  6. Just when you thought they can't get any worse than Marsch and that they saved themselves by not appointing him… they get worse.

  7. The man’s being judged and he’s not even taken charge of a game yet! No one seriously expects Leicester to get anything out of the game v Man City tomorrow and Smith is no fool, he’ll know that the pundits are expecting it to be a walkover. What will matter more to Smith is attitude and performance, and if Leicester players can demonstrate those qualities to him on Saturday, it will at least give Smith something to build on going forward.

  8. Manager who takes a job at a club that has fallen well down the table says publically that his squad is good enough to stay up. Shocking. Another scintillating bit of "breaking news" from Sky Sports. What's next? "Embattled manager says he has the full backing of the board"?

  9. Only way the Foxes staying up if Smith get John Terry playing in defence. Foxes just can't defend stop set play, they really need him there in real time. 😢⚽😎

  10. You look at our poor performance and if we do go down it'll be deserved. But you look and on PAPER, at least 3 teams are worse that us. But if you don't have the passion and the wrong tactics, everything can go wrong, no matter the talent the players behold. Nevertheless, come on Foxes! 🦊

  11. No way is Leicester going to beat Man City away at Maine Road tmr nite…Man City will gladly take this opportunity to win as many goals as possible…as goal differences might matter in e end…Cos Arsenal will be away to West Ham..and e Hammers need to win to stay in e PL!!.we should see both results!!!

  12. I guess if we do manage ‘the great escape’ again we’ll be odds on for Prem title next season! 😂

  13. How did Smith even get considered…80/20..50/50..it was toungue in cheek but how do these failures keep getting.g jobs

  14. Barnes the leading scorer who is a winger not a striker is injured. Leaving just Maddison the second highest scorer who is a midfielder and not a striker either as a threat. Which states much. Great recruitment Brendon? Having said that I think the run is is better than Forest's and Everton. Bar this weekend against City and Goldilocks. The last 3 games are tough they will need 6 points before then. Leicester need to find some clean sheets soon if survival is a possibility 1-2 goals a game not good enough

  15. 3 nil down less than 30 min 😂😂😂😂… Rubbish English manager as always.. Same goes to Potter, Howe, Lampard Gerrard 😂😂

  16. Looking at the fixtures, they have enough against teams around them to give them selves a chance.

I love Smithy, we have incredible memories with him.

I do hope he can keep
    Leicester up.
