Giants debut top pick in close clash with the Hawks

Harry Himmelberg has had a final two minutes to remember, taking a spectacular contested mark, kicking the winning major and making a desperate save on the goal line to seal a two-point win for Greater Western Sydney over Hawthorn.

It was a case of death by a thousand cuts for the Hawks, the Giants kicking 4.6 in the final term to lock up the 10.17 (77) to 11.9 (75) come-from-behind victory at Norwood Oval.

  1. Very lucky for us to win that one, a massive sigh of relief. A win is a win. But on another hand, Jesse Hogan needs to go, he nearly cost us the game and has actually cost us a few close games in previous seasons. Once Cadman develops we can get rid of Hogan because he simply can’t play under pressure

  2. 🏈 GWS deserved the win. They kicked 10.17 (77) and should have won by 40 points but for bad goal kicking.

  3. Kingsy will be disappointed in how close it was, but it was so entertaining 😩😩😩😩 Harry HIMmelberg. Was already winning Mark of the Year, but to do it again, at a crucial stage, in the last 2 minutes, covert it to a goal, and then defend up back with that stretch to save the game 🔥🔥🔥🔥👑

  4. if there's one thing about the Giants, they can take a mark. Jesse Hogan just gotta convert them to goals more often. Hawks were good.

  5. Although this was a low-scoring affair, it was still a good nail-biter. Greater Western Sydney had twenty-seven scoring shots to Hawthorn's twenty and if the Giants were more accurate, they could've flogged the Hawks. GWS can thank Harry Himmelberg for two things:

    1. The final goal to give the Giants the lead.
    2. Denying Jarman Impey the game-winning goal by a fingernail.

Greater Western Sydney's inaccuracy nearly proved to be very costly.
