A Ryan Moore MASTERCLASS! Broome digs deep to win the Dubai Gold Cup – Racing TV

Ryan Moore brilliantly timed his run to perfection as Broome ran down Siskany in a thrilling finish to the Dubai Gold Cup.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained seven-year-old has clocked up plenty of air miles on his travels since winning the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot in June.

Though subsequent sorties to North America, Ireland, France Japan and Doha had proved fruitless, Moore was back on board for the first time since the gelding’s fine fourth in Group One Sword Dancer at Saratoga in August.

Trying two miles for the first time since finishing last of 13 in the British Champions Long Distance Cup in October 2020, Broome’s stamina kicked in and he looked in need of every yard as Moore wore down William Buick’s mount in the dying strides of the Group Two contest.

The 2021 Ascot Gold Cup winner Subjectivist, who had pulled too hard on his comeback in Saudi Arabia, had clearly come on for that and turned for home in front, easing past Quickthorn, but was quickly passed by Buick’s mount, who kicked clear.

However, the Charlie Appleby-trained Siskany was just collared close home with the winner setting a new track record.

  1. what a rider and what a brave horse to ignore all round him and drive on through..and good horses and jockeys to say the least. Excellent

  2. moore don't do that without the horse/training of it. so zzzzzz bore off with how good a ride it was bcz he came from a few lengths back and timed it perfectly.

  3. The one race on the card I did get right and had Broome at 12-1. I felt certain he'd like the fast/firm turf at Meydan, and I didn't think the trip would be an issue for him either. Moore stuck to the rail and saved a lot of ground with Broome early. I wasn't sure if Moore was gonna be able to get him squeezed through the traffic that looked like it was quickly closing on Broome or not, but once Broome was in the clear I knew he'd run down Siskany. I would also add major kudos to Subjectivist for running a cracking good race for 3rd on just his second start back from being off the track for 618 days due to injury, and not running so well on his first start over in Saudi Arabia when he finished a well beaten 12th of 13 in the Red Sea Turf Handicap on the Saudi Cup undercard a month earlier. Look out for him in June at Royal-Ascot for another crack at the Ascot Gold Cup he didn't get a chance to defend at the 2022 royal meeting from his 2021 win in the race.

  4. When Ryan was out of form a few seasons back, everyone (including myself) expected Coolmore to do their usual top jock firing. For once, they didn't and now their reaping the rewards.

  5. Why Ryan Moore is the best. Shame that Broome does not have the turn of foot for a Melbourne Cup.

  6. with a furlong to go he gathered BROOME a front runner.
Started to ride him out in the last 100m ,simply awesome

  7. very very true from fran Benson regarding Broome,to fight for what little room there and gallop on is a very brave horse,he brushed them all aside !!!!!!!!😂

  8. Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣 put any jockey on this horse will definitely win the Race. Moore is overrated jockey 🤭🤭😂😂😂
