These trades for Kyrie are insane. The Mavs gave up Dinwiddie, Finney Smith and a 1st only for Irving. Lol. The Mavs aren't getting AD or Ayton for him now. Lol

Just a sad sad sad sad post trade season. If you would've told me Lakers might make it over the Mavs I wouldve laughed. What a dissapointment for all Mavs fans. I'm not even referring to the tank at the end.

They could probably get DFS back, doubt nets are just going to sit on all these players. They need to trade at least 2 of the 31+ year old players for something mid 20s otherwise the team will just hit a wall in 1-2 years. Maybe Orlando will part with a 6-10 guy, Myles turner. And get a decent bench point guard, having a full starter tiny point guard in kyrie is just redundant if it makes Luka suffer even more on defense.

I say you try your best to sign Kyrie to a deal for less than the max length. Paying him 50 mil 5 years from now COULD be crippling. Ideally you give him a 4 year deal with the 4th being either partially guaranteed, or better yet a team option. Odds are he's going to want at least 4 years maxed out. There are back up plans as far as a sign and trade if he leaves. Would a dual sign and trade to the Lakers for say, Dlo and Beasley work? Then you target a big who would fit with Luka that you could get for 10, assuming they stay at 10.
So here's my trade idea. Who was voted the worst contract in the NBA? Ben Simmons. 80 mil over the next 2 years. So you SHOULD be able to get something in return for taking that deal. The problem in Dallas is D, which hopefully Simmons could still help with. As for the extra asset… how about Dorian Finney Smith??? Bertans has 2/34 mil left of dead money basically, Tim Hardaway makes about 20, add Bullock or Javale and the numbers are close. Now fill in the blanks, would the Mavs also get a pick in that trade? Maybe. 2 years and 80 mil of Ben Simmons looks horrendous right now. The Nets eating the Bertans deal makes taking Simmons much more palatable. Subtracting the Bertans money, you have Simmons at 2 years, 46 mil, and if he is 75% of what he once was, it works out. Maybe you get a protected 1st or 2-3 2nd rd picks too.
Mavs got lucky with Green and Hardy. I think those can be your No. 5 & No. 6. on a championship team. Luka would be the #1, Kyrie #2, Future Pick and 2 swaps have to turn in No 3. and the tenth pick in No. 4.
It is possible but the chances that Kyrie walks for nothing and the 2023 pick goes to NYK is higher.

Do you really expect the same Mavericks GM Nico Harrison to clean up the mess he created? The guy is a total inept, incompetent. And he should be fired but there is no way Cuban is going to replace him. The kyrie trade was a disaster, you gutted the team for a player who was either an expensive failed rental or you allow Nico to sign him to a long term max deal knowing full well that once it is signed kyrie irving will hardly show up to work and his trouble making begins. Just ask the Celtics and Nets fans and owners.
The only way to clean this up is trade luka and sign and trade Kyrie
5 perfect Dallas futures steps should be:
1. fire Nico Harrison immediately
2. fire Jason Kidd immediately
3. trade Kyrie for some excellent players
4. trade for 2 really good rim protectors like Turner and B. Lopez.
Trade for a few really good wings like Aunoby and Bojan Bogdanović.
Trade for some really good defensive guard like Marcus Smart.
5. pay an excellent American mental coach like Tony Robins to help = convince Luka that his arguments with referees are contra-productive for the whole team spirit.
I get the practice of spit balling, but some of these ideas are really far out there. Lol. A lot of assumptions made that players are even interested in playing with Luka as well. The Harden/Luka experience is not for everyone.

Nico let Brunson go, Nico traded players to the Nets who helped them win, Nico gutted the team for kyrie irving and the Mavericks went 8-18 with irving – when they really needed a strong rebounder and rim protector, we know the real reason why inept incompetent nico is keeping his job lol

We can't stand Powell. He's a net negative player. He's not even a good backup. We can't just call these players busts when we don't have a defensive scheme and can't coach bigs. We're gonna have tons of players come through Dallas and pop elsewhere.

Mavs really on a run of BAD front office decisions. Porzingis round trip cost them 2 firsts and a second. Missed on resigning Brunson. Kyrie cost them 2 good players, a first and 2 seconds. And Kyrie will walk. That’s a bad couple years. Hard to believe they are all of a sudden going to start making good decisions. Looks like peak Luka Mavs was last year in the WCF.
Luka (Mavs) can compete with setup:
a) Kyrie + Myles Turner + BB (pistons) or LM (jazz)
b) Myles Turner + BB / LM + OG (raptors) if Kyrie leaves
Minimum coaching changes – bring Igor back and a new DC if Kidd staying. First choice though fire Kidd. It is going to be uphill task for Kidd to turn it around from this exit.
That’s like two more years gone recovering before next WCF trip.

people want to blame kyrie and the stats show he was the only reason why every game was close. and also was the few PLUS +/- on the team. actual stats that anyone can look up, but they dont. they read a boxscore and watch espn then think they are analysts. when these analysts cant even do their jobs correctly.
kyrie was +95. luka was +5. since trade.
irving was 4-1 w/o luka playing. with the one loss was brooks injuring his ankle.
irving was 50/39/94 on 27/5/5 and was 1st in stls,2nd blks, 2nd in Plus +/- , 2nd help def, 4th reb . luka could never.
they were 5-11 together. of which luka took the final 2 shots or turnover in nine games of which mavs were tied or down 1 possession. making it 0-9 on luka taking the final shots.
so iriving by himself has half the mavs win w/o luka.
they each missed 7 games as well as thj missed 7 and wood missed 4. thats your top 4 scorers missing 1/3 of the final games in a playoff run. thats rough.
luka iso and shooting 33/34% while shooting 10 a game, , 74% FT with 4 TO / game, while shooting 33% fg in clutch, is the reason the record is so poor. and hes NEVER been a good 4th quarter scorer, which was one of the reasons they got the number 1 4th qtr scorer, top 3 clutch player in kyrie.
You can't be this bad at building a roster, unbelievable…

Ayton & Chris Paul to Dallas in exchange for Kyrie, McGee, and whatever filler is needed (Bertans/THJ/etc)
Chris Paul isn't going to be that big of a positive in Dallas, but Ayton will. If you have to make the money work, you make the trade. Ayton is a Top 3 roll man in the NBA who can actually rebound. He'll play a little rim defense as well. After that use draft picks to either draft a defensive wing or make a trade & bring a defensive wing in… Ayton & Luka are both young. Lot of room to build chemistry there.
