  1. I had the privilege of seeing 42 play for the Dodgers.Even at the end ,when he was prematurely old, lame, sick, and overweight,he was STLL an athletic prodigy capable of doing things nobody on the field could match up with.During the first game of the long ago1955 world series,he completed the last "clean" theft of home. With a hall of fame lefty basically looking right at him,and a hall of fame catcher behind the dish,he made an incredible dance and dash for home,in effect "undressing" both of them.I was too young to begin to comprehend 42's social significance, but I'll never forget how that play made me feel,"in the moment".Bless his memory,he's eternally "safe at home."

  2. Watch that Baseball documentary by Ken Burns; he also produced a separate Jackie Robinson feature. What must it have been like to take the field on April 15, 1947 in front of all of those fans and racists? Who else had his nerves? And, to play on that baseball diamond in Ebbet's Field with the equipoise that only baseball players exhibit so well? No Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Satchell Page, Barry Bonds, Reggie Jackson without Jackie Robinson, none.

  3. This should have been at Holman stadium. The Home of Jackie not this new dodger stadium
