Jesus loves you all and died for our sins
Great tip. I will always remember the "Front pad" in putting. Thank you for your excellent video's.
You are the man! Awesome as always. I always enjoy your enthusiasm and video content.
What are your thoughts on a small forward press if you start with your hands in the neutral position?
The grip pressure tip was great. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks Matt.
I think you might of just changed my putting with the front pad tip thank you!
I never thought about holding the putter in the upper pads of my hands. That really helps me keep the putter more upright. I worked on it this morning and it has made a huge difference. Thanks Matt!
Loving the putter instruction!
Thanks Matt.
Nice shoes……
That front pad tip is game changing. So simple but so important.
Number 3 was gold lol
I assume you repaired that divot 😂. Thanks for the awesome content 👍
It's amazing how much grip changes putting. I had a hard time over squeezing so I tried an interlocking grip and tipping the putter up a bit higher. I rarely 3 putt now.
Some wonderful putting tips Matt. Keep up the great work.
Awesome tips.
Wow that first putt was terrible….😉
You ROCK Mr. SG!
Great video Matt! Thanks.
My biggest putting bugaboo for years has been the “too tight” move from the ball. I never knew why it happened. Until now. Thanks Matt!
$50 a hole any course, anytime anyday.
You make no sense re: putting. Anything to crank out a video.
My guess is that a decent % of the low hands people are compensating for some other problem in their putting stroke.
Mid season I switched to a tight grip with low hands. Have never putted so well. The death grip has taken out the wrist movement I used to have resulting in better distance and accuracy.
That front pad/back pad thing?? I thought everyone just gripped it naturally to be in the correct position.
Dude you chat too much rubbish, I can putt using any part of the putter face and still make a decent putt, so what are you saying to the golfing world???
I have to say that I didn’t consider the front pad idea. But it’s the way I putt. It’s better to be clear about what I’m doing. Now I can feel more in control of my putting technique. Golf can be so unnerving that being more thoughtful can only help me maintain my composure. Thanks Matt
Quick eyes can help steady the putting stroke. We plan and dream our golf swing. It’s so much easier to be possessive of the putting stroke.
Thanks Matt.
My putting has to be the weakest single element of my game. Hoping this tip will help me.
Brad Faxon, Tiger, numerous more disagree with that 3rd tip
Well damn! I had 2 of the 3 things wrong in my grip Matt. First off,the way to check your grip pressure is brilliant, I was totally gripping way too hard. But the real kicker was having pressure on upper vs lower pads – what a difference that makes! And I'd never heard that tip before.
I've putted SO much better the past 3 rounds since working on these 2 things. Shot 77 today and most of the putts looked like they had a chance to go in. Now I just need to improve my reads.
THANKS!
Brad Faxon likes his BOTTOM hand pad on the grip and he’s one of the undisputed best putters of all time. It’s about preferences and results ultimately, not hard and fast absolute rules. I actually find the weight of the putter is more stable with my bottom pad on the grip like Faxon.

Is the putter grip equal, under or a top of the top pad?
Steve Stricker…one of the best putters…said he strangles the putter
Be the best example; fix your divots
Do whatever feels comfortable and do it a lot!!!! putting is an art and mostly green reading. Practice hitting thru a gate for the first 2 feet and make sure you can start it online. Once you are confident you can start it straight, the rest is all matching speed and line. aka green reading.
Interesting. I had always come at the front/back pad issue as; hold your clubs in your fingers and the putter in your palms, definitely not fingers. Same/same I guess.
To say always in that putting grip is misleading. Steve stricker, Brad faxon, Ben Crenshaw and pat obrian use and teach a grip where the putter grip rests on the rear pad of the left hand. With players like that suggesting that grip I think it is a mistake to say you should “never” do it. Nothing wrong with using and teaching something different than what they use but saying they are wrong is a mistake imho,
Awesome tips! After I saw this, I took this to the course and had 25 putts for the round! Thanks Matt!!!!
I don't know dog, I have gone through 4 putters this year and I am still a mess. Thinking I might need a Bourbon dispenser on the cart to help me focus. If I can be patient I will try out the tips. Peace
You should talk about the BGT Stability putter shafts and how it creates less torque
Never knew about the back pad grip issue. Golfing today, so this mod is going into immediate play. Thanks, Matt!
Excellent video. Thanks!
5:10 I see you flexin on us 💪
Im 61 and NEVER played golf this is the guy "mrshortgame" is going to be my mentor
I never understood why the putter lifted up when I started my stroke. Too tight of a grip. Great tip
Unrelated, but what's the lie angle and loft of your driver at 3:12? I feel like I don't angle the club as much and am now worried I'm doing it wrong!
Found this searching to find different types of of gripping the putter, looking for a change to improve. Only to find out not only do I grip to hard and low; I've been using the bottom pad for all these years of golfing(9yrs)! 😝Whoops 😂 Thanks for the great tips and instructions! 😎
I’m sure you’ve got some good points to make. But facing the camera at the sun ruined this video due to glare behind you and cannot see illustrations of your hands on putter.
