GOLF UTILITY IRONS COMPARISON | Best Utility Irons of 2023

Golf utility irons are increasing in popularity as golfers seek a lower-launching, more workable club that bridges the gap from irons to fairway woods in the bag. Early in 2023, we’ve identified seven golf utility irons that will do really well in fitting bays this year: PING iCrossover, Titleist T200, TaylorMade Stealth UDI, Srixon ZX MK II, Cobra KING Tec, Mizuno Pro Fli Hi, and Tour Edge C722.

In this video, 2nd Swing’s Drew Mahowald and Kevin Kraft test all seven golf utility irons in a head-to-head test on Trackman and break down all of the data.

  1. I don’t think I would consider the t200 a driving iron. I have the u505 2 iron in my bag.

  2. The C722 isn’t going to hold a green, so I wouldn’t be seduced by its length (not hating on TE, I actually play one of their 5 woods and it’s arguably my favourite club in the bag). Just don’t think such a shallow descent angle is very functional

  3. I use a 19* C722 and get good distance but haven't used it for into the green yet, so I can't atest to that. Head is a little small to the eye, but solid overall.

  4. I agree with Kevin that the Stealth UDI does look amazing at address – not too thin or too big…just right. I was originally deciding between Stealth UDI, Stealth DHY and U505 but ended up with the Stealth UDI due to the way it looked at address and performance was great as well so the decision was a no brainer for me.

  5. I just got a set of zx5/zx7 combo set, 5 & 6 in the zx5, and I have my old M2 hybrid as a 4 iron, Im debating switching to a zx5 4 iron, and a zx utility driving iron, not sure though I hit hybrids really well. I have a free slot in my bag though and I already have 4 wedges

  6. Which are the best shafts for driving iron in your opinion? I tried the DI and felt it really hard to hit and stiff! What about Ventus Blue and Nippon GOST?
    Thanks

  7. Another great video boys, driving irons today are so more forgiving and has been a great alternative for anyone who struggles with hitting hybrids. The FlyHigh made my bag late last season and I couldn’t have been more surprised or happier.
