Falling trees cause Masters mayhem as second round at Augusta is suspended

Spectators at the Masters had a lucky escape after three trees crashed to the ground during storms on day two of the tournament. At 4.21pm local time, moments before play was halted for a second time amid whipping winds, spectators raced towards safety in the area between the 15th green and the 17th tee as the tight collection of towering Georgia pines toppled. Several individuals only narrowly avoided serious injury, and the second round will resume on Saturday, leaving the prospect of a rare Monday finish for the event.

  1. I wouldn't have wanted to be the dude in the camera tent — he could clearly hear the trees falling but could only hope they weren't coming down on top of his tent 😛

  2. Too bad Greg Abbott wasn't there so the trees could fall on his other half and finally finish the job.

  3. 1. Raízes muito rasas, imagino que várias outras árvores estejam prestes a cair.
"1. Very shallow roots, I imagine several other trees are about to fall."
    2. Sendo que suas raízes podem atingir até 5 m de profundidade e a podridão é algo que deve ser observado.
"2. And its roots can reach up to 5 m deep and rot is something that must be observed."

  4. 3. Outra atitude a se tomar é a de verificar a situação das raízes dessas árvores em todos os campos de golfe, pq não será um caso isolado.
"3. Another attitude to take is to check the situation of the roots of these trees in all golf courses, as this will not be an isolated case."
