Lions ROAR to hand Magpies first loss of 2023



It might be a while before Cam Rayner plays in defence again after the former No.1 draft pick put on a scintillating performance to lead Brisbane to a 33-point win over Collingwood on Thursday night.

After playing in defence for the first three games of the season, Rayner was magnificent in the forward 50, kicking four goals and doing so much more in the 18.8 (116) to 11.17 (83) triumph.

    As a basketball and AFL fan (yep, decided to go for the whole league because you'd probably hate me if i'd gone for 1 or 2 teams), I had a feeling that a loss was in affect for Collingwood. Seemed pretty aimless in Q2, leading to a 10pk of goals from their rivals. We'll let you have this win, Brisbane (plus i think it was their home grond advantage).

    Commentary and twitter (about this game, from what i seen for this match), was something else (anything but good).😖
    At least we're in the early stages (wait until after round 10).

    The disgusting bias in the commentary is egregious. Lions up by 5 goals, and they’re talking as if they’re in front. Shameful Channel 7

    Collingwood beaten and Dutton setting the conservative rump on a path to electoral oblivion. Hard to pick the better of the two. Both absolutely fantastic!

    I’m glad Brisbane won but those umpires of lastnights game were terrible so much bad calls like high tackles holding the ball im pretty sure it was match fixed

    All the Collingwood supporters should honestly shut up about the rucks. Brisbane outplayed in the midfield and the defenders couldn’t stay on the forwards so the got away and got all these goals

    Some of the most pathetic Vic-centric commentary to ever be heard at an AFL match was on display during this game. Lions were in total control but you would have thought it was a close one. These guys are clowns

    As a pies supporter I just have to say that they were to good, at their home deck, we didn’t have a ruckman and we didn’t play well at all, it was what I was expecting, GG lions, see you at the Docklands for round 23.

    Tough night as we were off and played out of character as Lions took advantage. Credit to the Lions as that’s what the good teams do but we’ll learn and be better for the experience. Onto the Saints next week as we’ll reset and go again.
