247Sports’ Adam Finkelstein, Eric Bossi, and Travis Branham are joined by Duke assistant coach Jai Lucas. He was hired by John Calipari in 2020 to be a special assistant and lead recruiter at the University of Kentucky. During the 2021-22 season at Kentucky, he was rated the second best recruiter in the country, behind only Jon Scheyer (who at the time was the associate head coach at Duke).
After Coach K announced his retirement at Duke, Scheyer took over as head coach at the end of the 2021-22 season and hired Lucas as an assistant coach, the first Duke assistant who hadnโt played for the Blue Devils in 30 years.

With only Roach returning this season, Duke had to build almost from scratch. This off-season feels real different. Even if Flip and Roach bounce, having Proctor, Mitchell and Young back is a big deal. Plus Blakes, Reeves and Schutt are promising for the future. Duke is set for an even better season than Scheyer's debut.
