How does Duke’s philosophy adjust with multiple freshmen returning next season? ๐Ÿ€ | 24Sports, CBB

247Sports’ Adam Finkelstein, Eric Bossi, and Travis Branham are joined by Duke assistant coach Jai Lucas. He was hired by John Calipari in 2020 to be a special assistant and lead recruiter at the University of Kentucky. During the 2021-22 season at Kentucky, he was rated the second best recruiter in the country, behind only Jon Scheyer (who at the time was the associate head coach at Duke).

After Coach K announced his retirement at Duke, Scheyer took over as head coach at the end of the 2021-22 season and hired Lucas as an assistant coach, the first Duke assistant who hadnโ€™t played for the Blue Devils in 30 years.

  1. With only Roach returning this season, Duke had to build almost from scratch. This off-season feels real different. Even if Flip and Roach bounce, having Proctor, Mitchell and Young back is a big deal. Plus Blakes, Reeves and Schutt are promising for the future. Duke is set for an even better season than Scheyer's debut.
