Hi Goose, long time watcher for the past five years here. It's very cool to see you talking about Mario Golf, seeing it's one of the most slept upon Mario games. Most people usually settle for the GC one but the 64 one has some truly pristine vibes. I don't know if it's the music (even though Sakuraba worked on Mario Tennis as well) or the atmosphere as a whole, but it has something that gives it a very distinctive identity. I used to have a blast playing it when I was younger and would often boot up the N64 years later just to play it again.

While I did grow up with N64 I didn't have Mario Golf in my collection, my collection only consisted of GoldenEye 007 which came with the console itself, Mario Kart 64, at one point I was given a copy of Super Mario 64 from someone as well as bunch of other games like Mission Impossible, WWF 2000 Wrestlemania, for my Birthdays I was given Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, I later bought myself Super Smash Bros. and Donkey Kong 64 which I found at a car boot sale (that's non-american version of garage sale) that someone was selling not realizing it needed the Expansion Pak, because the game was being sold without its original box art, but did eventually get one so I could play the game, later I did get Ocarina of Time, at one point before I did get a borrowed copy of Ocarina of Time, but I didn't manage to get my own copy until much later, and sometime in early 2000s eventually got Majora's Mask.
