I’m a UConn alum, and I have to say that as UConn was developing under Calhoun, Duke seemed to be the yardstick that we used for measuring our progress. Beating them for the national championship showed us we had arrived.

From a UConn fan. Coach K is a 100% class act. I've always respected him
I attended the 2011 Sweet 16 games between Duke and Arizona, and San Diego State and UConn (Yup, got to see the Kimba Walker flop in person). There were many people present, and the crowd had a natural din to it, but when Coach K walked out from the locker room, there was a general hush in the crowd, as everyone just felt his presence on the court. Coach K transcends legendary, he is the GOAT coach in the history of the sport.
Aside from the Kimba Walker flop, the 2nd most bizarre NCAA Tourney incident that I've witnessed was seeing the Stanford Tree mascot assault the St. Joseph's Hawk mascot during a timeout in the 2001 Regionals.

The disrespect SDSU continues to get is unreal. They are not a surprise team. They have been good for decades now. If you think it's a surprise that they have made it to the final four, then you're either a fool or in todays world… maybe a midmajorist will be the new term lol
