Vijay Singh | First and Last | The Open Championship

Vijay Singh has made quite an impact on the Open Championship and the wider golf world. A Hall of Fame inductee and three-time major winner, the Fijian was always a player that the crowd looked forward to seeing.

Singh made 25 appearances at The Open, finishing in the top 10 four times and coming runner-up once. He began his Open story in 1989 at Royal Troon for the 118th Open.

In 2003, Ben Curtis would deny Singh his chance at lifting the Claret Jug at the 132nd Open. Singh finished tied second alongside Thomas Bjorn that year.

Over a quarter of a century later, ‘The Big Fijian’ would play at Royal Troon in 2016, this would be his last Open Championship.

  1. Who cares, he's never sniffed an Open win. I'd love to know who thinks up these shorts instead of putting time into building final round footage of Ballesteros in '88, Faldo in '87, Watson in '83 etc, etc. Augusta have complete final round footage of every year, why does the Open media team continue to produce this irrelevant content. Directionless.
