Learning how to swing a golf club properly can be complicated, so let’s make this an easy golf swing tip. It’s not about how to make a lead arm golf swing or trail arm golf swing, but rather what happens when one overpowers the other.
In this golf lesson, Todd Kolb shows us what happens when the trail arm in the golf swing takes over, the tendencies when you use the lead arm in the golf swing too much, and some simple golf swing drills to help you work on both!

is there a way for a player who comes from tennis (habit of right arm to fire first) to get the left hand in golf to be the main one? I am slicing all my shots right now. cause is right arm taking over on the swing…

Hi Todd, just want your advise, was going to replace my callaway B21 driver, my pro at our golf store mention that maybe i should look at replacing the golf shaft on my driver, I’m a 66 yer old senior, my average drive are 200/220yard, what would you think about replacing the shaft and what would you suggest for a shaft
Thanks
Jacques from new brunswick canada
My hips turn and get ahead of my hands on the down swing. How do I get my hands in front?
Todd,
I’m a natural Lefty, but I learned to play right handed when I was a kid because I only had access to RH clubs. I alway have a little fade to the ball . Do you think this may be the reason? Never had any success trying to hit a draw hard as I try
Austin, Texas. I'd like to learn more about the Driver. i mhad a stroke in mid February and have recovered very well, but my driver hasn't come back to where it was. Usually short and all over the place. Just started watching your VLS videos and recently read "The Bad Lie".
FYI, I play 2x a week and am 68 years old.
Gary Primerano , Scottsdale, AZ I enjoy your videos practicing the VLS😊
I agree with your thought that forcing the trail arm causes a slice. Does for me. To get in rythm, I have a pause at the top of my back swing so both arms move the club together. Less effort, better results. When I'm forcing the swing my right arm is pushing and results are typically dismal! Louisville, KY. 57 . Bogey golf average… But getting better with your tips!
Thank you very much for this lesson. My slice has vanished as I learned to use my lead arm more!
ok which arm?
Very good drills , I like the leading more with the left arm drill. Did you ever hear of the OTT swing with Cristo Garcia for better contact and fix slice. ??
Hello John, I'm from Birmingham, England, and I watch all your teaching on utube my problem is I am right handed but it seems natural for me to play left handed.l am to old to change do you have any advice for golfers like me.
Love the tips Todd and the 3 setters. Here in Connecticut – can’t wait to get out there on the course soon! Reading The Bad Lie – together with your videos have been really helpful.
I had a lesson several years ago by JC Snead, nephew of Sam Snead, and he told me that his uncle taught him that the golf swing was like sweeping dirt with a broom and made the point that the swing is the left arm and right just goes along for the ride. Please give your take on this.
Thank you Todd! I broke 95 yesterday with a 8 on number 18 haha your channel is is helping me eliminate my bad mistakes. It’s gonna get better for sure. I’m almost 65 with replacement parts. Gave up golf for many years and I’ll get back to my youthful numbers eventually! Tim from Pa.
