He started playing golf as a toddler and always seemed destined for greatness. But before all of the major championships and countless accolades, Tiger Woods was winning the Silver Medal at The Open Championship.
In 1996, a fresh-faced Tiger came to The 125th Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes as a Low Amateur hoping to make his mark on the tournament. And he did just that!
The 20-year-old finished tied for 22nd, winning the Silver Medal and turning pro just six weeks later.
From there he went on to win three Claret Jugs, in 2000, 2005 & 2006.
Relive his journey from hot prospect to golfing icon in the latest edition of Star of Silver.

What is Tiger's greatest Open Championship moment?
wearing a cheeky US Open and not a single swoosh in sight, what an odd sight
This was the start of his Golfing majesty and history making glass ceiling break through to greatness. Absolutely brilliant Tiger for opening up golf to a global audience and insipiring so very many people to play and enjoy golf, including this little lady right here.👏🤟👏
