SKILLS

What Nobody Tells You About How to Strike Your Irons

This is why you struggle to strike your irons pure and make solid contact 👇

1. You are trying to hit your irons straight. The golf swing is an arc so it’s almost impossible to hit straight golf shots. The best players enhance their iron str by allowing the ball to curve.
2. Your Ball and Hand Position are in the wrong place at set up
3. You don’t have enough weight on your front foot at impact – Easy Fix
4. You are flicking your wrist through impact and not getting compression

What’s great is if you have any one of these faults in your golf swing they are really easy to fix and can make an instant impact on the quality of your ball striking not just with your irons but with your driver too.

For example if you want to hit your driver straight just changing the ball position and alignment of body will be a real eye opener for you

ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

  1. As ever great and simple explanation. So Chubbs was right “ it’s all in the hips “ !!!

  2. Great video Danny. Really explains the geometry well. I particularly liked the fluidity movements. It creates a strong mental picture and is something my swing needs. Will try it out and will also watch the driver video.

  3. Excellent video Danny. You make it sound so simple.

My problem is I tense up too much and get slightly nervous over the ball. Hopefully I can use these to help get a more fluid feel to my swing

  4. Great Danny this is one of the best videos you’ve made acc to me. Thanks will help a lot 🙏⛳️

  5. Thanks Danny great as ever. I will go over it again. My default – normal? iron shot is to hit it very, very straight. I have always aspired to hitting it with a slight draw as you talked about. This seems a very natural movement based on the way the swing goes. Should I keep trying to get the movement or should I be happy with what I have.

  6. Thanks Danny, couple of questions
    1. What club were you using
    2. Ref the swing, do you have a video on that
I am off to to practice, thanks

  7. Morning, Dan – Great video as usual. I have a problem at address – when I stand to the ball I dip my head towards the ball – it’s a problem I’ve had before but only realised I was doing it again when practising posture in my front room. My Iron shots go straight but lack height, and I know because I tip forward at address on the downswing I have nowhere to go so stand up ! Range tomorrow is tilting from the pelvis and keeping my head up 👍😁

  8. Great tuition as normal thanks. Sorry if I’ve missed it but what is your No1 drill for getting ball then turf, thanks again

  9. Love video Danny. I’ve a tendency to hit the ground first sometimes. I think I tense up a bit so am not relaxed on swing my path and then don’t strike it well. Think my problem is I over think things and my head is then all over the play. But the way you explain it, it sounds so simple. I’ll take this onto the range next time and work on it. Cheers

  10. Another really helpful, easy to understand and seems fairly straightforward to apply. I'm already benefitting from the same logic with my driver, can't wait to try this.
Really hope you get to the 1m subscribers, Danny, you deserve it and whatever comes with it.

  11. Thanks Danny for another great show, love the simplicity of your explanation, look forward to Saturday mornings more than ever lately, thank you.

  12. Ive only recently come to your channel. You explain in simple terms and thats a huge difference for me. I'm a 15, just had knee replacement surgery and am aiming to be a 10 by summer. I'm 70 and your channel is now the only one I watch. Thanks!

  13. Great video! I have a tendency on some days to release the club early and hit them fat (when everything feels right in my swing). On other days I get stuck as you described in this video. However, my most consistent swing failure is I release my hands and arms early which causes my hands/arms to get ahead of my body usually causing a pulled or over-the-top swing. Unfortunately, when I pull a shot, I CRUSH IT! but the ball ends up extremely left of the target. I think to myself if I could hit a pulled shot straight! 🙂

  14. Sir Danny ,An lot of players I play with were Guilty as was I of Dragging the Handle Through first ,I Fought it for an Couple of Years and am now Cured !Nice Lesson as Allways,Cheers from Cincinnati ,Ohio.

  15. I hit my irons straight, and and my friends do say that I aim left, so that explains, thanks, great video!

  16. Hello Danny. Thanks again. Can’t wait to get to range to try these ideas. Thanks.

  17. Great video Danny. I have tried to do this but I start the ball right and the ball hooks more then it draws . I always seem to miss left. Some time way left. Is the problem with my club face at setup?

  18. Hi Danny
Just been on the range trying out you advice even before my irons shot weren’t to bad but I find out that I was not moving my hips as Much as I should be so by doing what you said in your video my irons felt strong and better relaxed feeling in my finished position thanks again great coach cheers John

  19. Hey Danny, I always seem to come back to your videos. Recently had a left side stroke so much weaker with my lead arm now, can you perhaps do a video explaining dominant sides ?

  20. I've been playing about 4 years now.. for my address set up routine I've always gripped the club last. Body addresses the ball relevant to shot.. Club addresses the ball relative to shot. Connect that. Part one of your video reminded me of why.

  21. Thanks as ever Danny. I must admit I am struggling a bit with this video as for my brain it’s a bit over complicated. I have watched it twice and will persevere with it (assuming it ever stops raining here in Somerset).

  22. Another great video and as other have said you make it look so simple.

I find I am making good contact with the ball and hitting it straight, but straight to the left of target and into trouble, I have tried to move the swing circle but this did not help. ⛳

  23. Love how you explain and demonstrate the movements needed to hit your irons properly, something i have always struggled with, thank you .

  24. Love the videos. Keep up the great content. I think you should go on US coaching tour starting in Wisconsin with a 50something, 21 handicap golfer…😮

  25. Easy to listen to, visualise and then take to the practice range and then onto the course. Fantastic Danny thankyou
