  1. I like Rory, or I used to like him but it is starting to feel like he is a Puppet of the PGA

  2. Rory is a great golfer, but I honesty don't think "the sharpest tool in the shed". When as #1 player in the world and ambassador, he talked down his own sport, heading into the first Olympics. He was barely capable of saying anything interesting or noteworthy while filming Netflix's "Full Swing" and thought that by saying "F*** you Phil" at the end would save it.

And even here to say that the new ball rule will help the player with "more well rounded games succeed easier" – that disqualifies him! He succeeds on his driving. The rest of his game statistically is very middle of the pack at best on the tour average.

Whatever happened to making the fairways narrower, the rough higher, and the greens firmer???? Why has that not been explored by the golf's governing bodies?? All one has to do is listen to some of Tiger's comments about past U.S. Opens and that's all that needs to be known.

  3. The golf's governing bodies are going about this stupidly and with their head in the sand – specifically the USGA. Here are Tiger Woods comments from 2019. They should've listened:

“There was a time there where it was a brutal test, and then it became kind of a tricky decision you had to make, trying to bring in more options off the tees or into the greens. The Open has changed. I thought it was just narrow fairways, hit it in the fairway or hack out, move on. Now there’s chipping areas around the greens. There’s less rough. Graduated rough. They’ve tried to make The Open different and strategically different.

“I just like it when there’s high rough and narrow fairways, and go get it, boys.”

  4. 10 years ago, maybe 5 pitchers could throw 100 mph. Now, the top 25% of pitchers throw 100+ mph. Baseball hasn't changed the pitching distance.

The issue is, pitchers are throwing to a batter who is actively trying to beat him. The golf course isn't actively changing to beat the golfers.

  5. The ball discussion is useless right now, the changes aren't till 2026 and the ball you use today will be legal. It is a future proof system designed to make the COURSES viable into the future and we don't have a 400 yard amateur average let alone the pro's due to ball technology.

  6. I didn't think I could possibly like Rory any less – but then he goes and says this. What an absolute pistachio.

  7. The ball already has limitations on it. They can only go a certain distance with a given launch angle & swing speed. This is simply changing that distance at an elite level. The real question is will manufacturers get behind it and make balls they can't sell to the public.

  8. There are more athletic golfers than ever before, it's not just about the equipment. Without a doubt, scaling back the golf ball would separate even more the short hitters.

  9. If distance was an issue, all of the professional long drive guys would be dominating the tour, and they aren't.

  10. Wind back the driver may have been a better option. Not sure of the solution but many golf courses were designed for shorter drives and don't have real estate to stretch holes

  11. These golfers of today are working out more and getting stronger to help their game!!! Now it’s it’s the balls fault?? Why not just limit how much they can go to the gym and work out!!??😂 just my opinion, not looking to argue!!

  12. It's about the Legendary golf courses not the players' parity. I think the PGA should have some Retrospective tournaments or events with the old clubs from the past including the Hickories or Persimmon woods, etc.

  13. I think bomb and gauge golf is more boring than the 60s thru to early tiger era golf. However its darn difficult to 'fix'. Growing the rough REAL HIGH and narrowing the fairway A LOT at the distance of the long hitters could help.. Risk vs reward…. I dunno about Brandon's take on long irons separating the best from average – when do the longest guys hit long irons ?? What is a 'long iron' now, anyway?? – a 6 iron?? I doubt Rory would play the shorter ball year round – but who knows?? He might not care that much about winning the non majors if it helped him A LOT in the majors. I think Rory is a legend – he just needs to putt better.

  14. Almost forgot – I'd like to delve more into those stats that Brandon speaks of, too. How did he compare the long irons of, say, zac Johnson compared to rahmbo?? They would never have been hitting that same long iron into the same hole. (or do the variables 'cancel out'???).

  15. You have to just look at scoring in the Designated Events to see the ball isn't the issue. If half of the field is even to over par then really is the ball the issue?

  16. Liv Golf rules! Not a statement about the rules of golf. ANyone that a problem with players playing on different Tours, are a88holes.
