Join Lee Mottershead, James Stevens, Chris Cook and Paul Kealy as they look back at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.

Paul Kealy kicks things off by discussing a sensational day one on Tuesday, which featured Constitution Hill’s stunning Champion Hurdle triumph and was followed by one of the moments of the week when Honeysuckle won the Mares’ Hurdle.

James Stevens covers day two and Energumene’s easy success in the Champion Chase, while Chris reflects on Sire Du Berlais’ 33-1 upset in the Stayers’ Hurdle.

Finally, Lee analyses the amazing performance from Galopin Des Champs in the Gold Cup, which rounded off another special festival in style.

  1. Definitely some limit has to be introduced for the big festivals like Cheltenham and Aintree.

  2. One thing we do know cheltenham festival previews offer virtually no insight whatsoever. The so called experts no just about nothing. The majority of people involved with Racing are stealing a living.

  3. Next season Henderson will take the most conservative route possible with C.HILL only running him once before Cheltenham then winning the champion hurdle again simple. He'll constantly be asked throughout the season where he will next run and he'll say "I can't find a race for him" He won't run him on good, soft or heavy, the ground will have to be perfect to run. Brilliant horse but with the wrong trainer if we all want to see him in action next season.

  4. Why do these people always want champions to go for other races , Constitution Hill chasing ant the gold cup winner to go for the grand national

  5. He wants to be concerned the bloody rip off prices I had been going to the Festival for 30 years last year was my last as well the price thievery what finished it for me was when I saw someone snorting stuff up his nose in broad daylight (I’m sure it wasn’t salt)so be careful what you lot in the media and on TV wish for when you keep saying come racing🙈🙈🤷‍♂️

  6. Shiskin was finishing like a train…I reckon he's GC bound. Not saying he'll win it , saying he's going for it

  7. Cheaper to go to the Canary Islands and have a bet from ya deck chair thousands did apparently 😎🌞🌞🌞

  8. 50 euro for 2 days at the Dublin racing festival. The prices for tickets and pints is ridiculous at Cheltenham, numbers will stagnate.

  9. Gdc performance in gold cup was sensational imo. Things didn't go to plan. Has got serios pace and stays extremely well. Loved his long stride and low head carriage after last. As good a gold cup winner I've last 40yrs. Burrough hill lad and denman were good. Think gdc that good. I'm sure could have won giving serious weight away. Now any gold cup plans for constitution hill is off for next yr. Maybe champ chase a serious option. Would win that but gdc on that performance is significantly best around. I was blown away by him is a proper truly run race. Wouldn't back against him in a gold cup against anything I've seen in 40yrs.

  10. Shishkin bowl 3m winner at aintree. Prefer him on that big galloping flat track. Campround really caught the eye when 3rd in coral hurdle. Looks very well handicaped as long as decent ground. Aintree/ punchestown and slightly shorter trip.

  11. Great job guys, but does P Kealy even care if people can understand what he's saying? There's an audience Paul, no?

  12. "There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed." -Ray Goforth

  13. Race of day 3 was by stage star. Hardly got a mention from the experts. Ran the opposition into the ground. Jumped immaculately and had enough in the engine to go away at the end.

  14. At last an admission that antepost is a rip off I hope lesson will still be remembered next year when DJ and kealey are pushing us to make antepost bets in handicaps that will be bigger on the day with double the places

  15. Was stage star only worth 5 seconds? Beat class horses relatively easily and your "experts " go straight to the lottery race where absolutely anybody could've won.
Is it because of the fact that it's a syndicate horse or a bit of bias against Nichols? Either way, very poor.

  16. Constitution Hill should be campaigned on the flat
1.5 up to 2 miles, he'd clean up ( especially in soft ground )
