Erling Haaland has scored his SIXTH hat trick of the season in Manchester City’s 6-0 win over Burnley in the F.A. Cup — has Haaland broken the beautiful game by being TOO good at scoring goals?

Rog and Davo review a contentious El Blazerico, Antonio Conte’s please-fire-me outburst and every other moment from the Premier League on this week’s edition of the Men in Blazers podcast.

  1. I don't get the sympathy for Gio, myself. It was his misbehavior and willingness to ruin the WC for others over his playing time which triggered the whole thing. He has to show he's not some sort of locker-room cancer now.

  2. I don't think Gio will struggle to reintegrate at all.. Whoever coaches the team next wont be petty enough to not play one of his best players due to a personal conflict with his parents from years ago..

  3. Shaq comparison to Haaland is spot on. He was completely unplayable when he came out.

  5. Haaland is a different player style, but what they are talking about is like when Wayne Gretzky entered the NHL.

  6. Everyone seems to be focused on Haaland, but I'm basking in the glory of a great Dave Fishwick reference… ahh, the good ol' days…

  7. “Lalas is one of the most respected pundits in US soccer” is one of the most hilarious statements I’ve heard😂. Sadly it’s true and it tells you all you need to know about how bad US punditry is lol

  8. Haaland analogies: Babe Ruth (more HRs than other teams), Wilt Chamberlain (scoring and rebound records still unequaled), Bob Gibson (MLB changed height of mound to offset inability of hitters to hit), Lew Alcindor /Kareem (NCAA banned dunks), Aaron Judge

  9. It's quite refreshing to hear City players spoken about like this. It is unavailable from UK based pundits who swim in a bottomless sewer of clickbait hate and banter monkey trolling. The current generation of pundits and co-commentators grew up and made their contacts in the game during the years of Liverpool and Man United dominance. They long for the return of what the see as some sort of natural order or divine providence. This prompts people like Simon Jordan to say preposterous things like "Liverpool and United are proper teams and the likes of City and Chelsea are manufactured".
Liverpool and United fans have never been tested, never gone to the lower leagues. How many, especially of their international fan base, would remain if they did? As a long term expat I know exactly how fickle the international fan base is, they don't choose a team for life, it's not in the culture in many countries. When I moved to Thailand 23 years ago you couldn't even buy a legit or a knock off city shirt, now I see them being worn daily.
Many don't seem to have grasped that there are now 17 and 18 year olds who don't remember United's dominance or barely remember them winning the league.
Delighted you mentioned Julian too, what a cracking signing and he will thrive under Pep, he's like a mix of Sergio and Gundogan and he has his own thing going on. He may not be a striker for City and I think he's just fine with it.
Thanks for the positivity, there's a lot to be said for being outside the UK footy bubble.

  10. When Pep Guardiola is in a game needs a cheat code he types,

H-A-A-L-A-A-N-D and unlocks soccer god mode.
