  1. Watch interface a weee bit underwhelming. Might take a. It of getting used to. But for the price. I might consider it.

  2. It did not look like you marked the hole location (which the watch can do) on the green when you finished putting (ie. before moving to next hole) That is why you had to move the hole position when editing.

  3. I was told by an American Golf store in January not to buy the V3 because they were expecting Shot Scope to release a V4 "shortly". Still waiting.

  4. I’ve been using a V3 for 2 seasons now, it really helps you to identify what you need to work on. Sometimes though, you do ask yourself why did I buy a device that tells me how bad I am lol!

  5. Great vid Andy,
Nice to see you play in “Danish” conditions.
I am actually considering the Shot Scope V3. I have an Apple Watch with Golf Shot, but I think the registering of the shot with tag+watch might make it worth the change. Have you tried the Apple Watch/golfshot combination?

  6. Thanks for a very informative review of the V3 watch. I've looked at purchasing a golf watch but haven't decided on one yet. This looks to be a great candidate for a purchase. The shot tracking features of the watch are a definite plus. I've done the spreadsheet before to track fairways hit, GIRs, and putts but that always required me to write the info on a card during the round. On a side note, your putting did look better this round. Thanks!

  7. Ouch that 8 must have hurt but coming back with an eagle was awesome.
That's a very nice looking bit of kit; far better than my old Bushnell watch which is ok for basic distances but doesn't have the extra functions of the Shotscope V3.

  8. Just to be clear the v3 doesn't work with the Windows desktop app at all. That's a shame as like you I'd rather use the computer than the phone.

Other than that it's a pretty good product. Very handy having all this data pointing out where I can best spend my practice time.

  9. I have the V3. The watch utilises a RFID system to log the clubs used. So, the best way to make sure you don't miss a shot, just hold the "tag" you've screwed into the grip end, to the watch and it will read it just fine. When at the hole and you've putted in, mark it on the putter screen with how many putts you've made (1, 2 or 3 are the main buttons). That way you shouldn't have to edit the round so much if at all. I personally love the V3, helped lower my handicap no end. Interestingly, you don't even have to play a single shot all day if you'd like to cheat the system Just hold the club to the watch, walk 300yds, hold another club, walk to the hole, hold the putter to the watch, press 1 putt, hey presto you've just made a birdie on a par 4 without actually playing a shot! 😁

  10. I used the v2 and then v3. Few things irritated me. Main issue was dropped shots on the round, so if you weren't able to edit immediately whilst the round was fresh, it could get difficult to remember exactly what happened on every hole. The other thing for me was its 'only' a golf watch but not a smart watch so it was only useful for golf only. I also found that the strap rubbed against my opposite wrist during the swing which was irritating. I changed to the Garmin S60 which is expensive but a far superior watch overall, but I do have to admit the stats are not the same level. It's a trade off, but I'm happier with the Garmin.

  11. Haha, I only asked you the other day what you used, now you’re doing a video on it. I think it may be a sign. 🤔

  12. I’ve had a Shot Scope for nearly three years and I love it. It has really helped me improve by highlighting what I need to practice. I noticed you weren’t tagging the flag at each green and this may help reduce the amount of editing of your putting strokes. May take you up on the lessons as my Pro isn’t registered yet.

  13. I’ve had the v3 for a few months now and found it useful. Its limited by the accuracy of the GPS that affects its ability to pick up fairways/rough, bunkers and pin locations so you need to be prepared to edit your rounds. It’s worth knowing you can add penalties, drops as you go and also use ‘pause’ function. I don’t have trouble with it picking up which club is being used and I like the last shot distance and the lay-up and hazard information is really handy. I’ll be requesting a course update for new bunkers, so see what happens. 👍🏻

  14. Hi Andy have just bought the V3 and hitting the course this morning, so looking forward to seeing stats later. Have seen pro’s and con’s in regards to this watch, so let’s see. Great content as ever.

  15. 3rd season with V3. Excellent production and absolutely fantastic product support.

Doesn’t get in the way, fast accurate, easy to use, great data, no impact to swing weight or grip feel, no subscription fees, inexpensive and durable tags if you want extras, always improving the app.

New courses added quickly (I play in Asia in odd locations).

One hardware issue after around 2 years and they were fast, professional, and helped me completely and replaced the straps free of charge.

  16. PS, I rarely have to make edits to rounds. I did early on, but got better at avoiding stuff that cased it to have false positives. I.e carry cubs in right hand, don’t clank heads, etc

Andy is spot on, web app is much better for editing, but the mobile app is good enough once you learn to avoid the false registers. I don’t even think about it now, so it’s not a huge effort

  17. Such a good choice of course to test GPS on, its a crazy course where a rangefinder is almost pointless!
Have been using a V3 for a few weeks now and the recent SG updates on the website are just amazing, it is a total bargain.

  18. Definitely the best. Free subscription to the app and no yearly subscription fees. Unlike other platforms. Love it.

  19. I had a V3 for the last 3 years, I love it and my handicap has come down 4. Reviewing the data is so easy and tells you the "real" truth. Biggest advantage is I thought I was hitting the ball further than I was so I now hit an extra club which makes hitting the green a "bit" easier. Super product..

  20. I'm definitely interested in something like this, with the tags, but the watch display doesn't look as good as others. Looks a good product for the price though

  21. Like lots on here, I have used ShotScope for a number of years, starting with the V2 and then upgrading to the V3 when it first came out and they offered a discounted upgrade.

I have found the support to be first class. My home course has a winter and summer layout, but the system only allows one layout to be mapped at a time, so a quick email is required to change them over. Also sending course changes has been easy, once I've managed to edit mapping screenshots.

My original V3 developed a GPS fault and was replaced free of charge, nearly 2 years after I had originally bought it.

I've now started looking at the relatively new stats features on the website and it a rabbit hole from which I may never ascend. There is so much information to take to coaching sessions.

My only gripes are with the GPS dropping out, particularly under trees, but that is relatively minor. My main concern is with the RFID tags, or rather the material they are made of. As they extend the length of the club, they rub on the bottom of the bag and wear away. When the copper ring is exposed, then the tag does not work. Getting new tags is like changing clubs and all the stats become disjointed.

Having said this, I love ShotScope and feel naked on the course if I'm not wearing it, somehow a rangefinder does not feel the same.

  22. Great review Carter. European Long drive champion Bry Roberts is sending out match challenges. You can take him Andy
