Reigning Players Champion Cameron Smith might show up at the event and watch, as a fan! One thing is for sure, Cam will not have a reserved parking space if he tries to show up. Ever since Cam made the move to @LIVGolf, the PGA Tour stripped Cam of the winner’s parking space among some other actions, which have been met with calls that the PGA Tour was acting petty.
The PGA Tour and TPC Sawgrass, in perception, stripped Cameron Smith of his 2022 Players Championship win for joining LIV Golf. What seemingly started with taking down the reserved parking spot sign for Cam Smith at the Ponte Vedra Beach, FL golf course morphed into more far-reaching actions like removing Cam’s portrait as a winner of the tournament from the clubhouse wall.
Cameron Smith’s parking spot at TPC Sawgrass was taken away by the PGA Tour, along with all club membership privileges, after his defection to LIV Golf.
Yet has the PGA Tour and TPC Sawgrass gone too far in removing Cam’s photo as the winner of the 2022 Players Championship? Did Cam Smith really win the 2022 Players tournament? All of the hype this week has focused largely on the 2021 Players Champion, Justin Thomas, the PGA Tour has been entirely silent on Cam Smith.
