Great Drill!!! Love that drill motion on the back swing. I will definitely be adding that to my drill rotation.
Nice gents. Kerrod, my only suggestion is to be more proactive with a less monotone voice, louder, and more emphasis with certain words. Remember, you're not reading us a bed time story. Preach it man, make it contagiously fun…this is golf. Well done. Only sharing to be helpful from an outsiders point of view.
Brilliant drill !!!
Seems to me, there’s more than one way of a backswing. Hard to find 2 backswings that look alike on tour
Brilliant drill for a proper backswing!
Another option is from set up, reach out and back with lead arm only as if shaking hands with lead arm parallel to ground with someone standing to your right to get the same effect.
I love your comment about getting stuff for free Eric! I agree as well.
I think this also clearly demonstrates you don't need to swing your arms behind you, let your torso do this.
My lead elbow just always wants to point at the target at setup and I believe it is contributing to my small forearm roll to start the swing. Should I always have to make a conscious effort to point it down more at setup?
This is funny/tragic to me because the reason I struggle with too much forearm rotation is actually a result of the 'well-known' version of this drill with the usual hand positioning. When I first started, a coach got me into that 'P2' position as a beginner with no explanation of how to get there. The most logical way was to roll the forearms. I now have a number of feels to lessen the bad movement but it has been a struggle to stop it ever since. The best way of dealing with it for me is to feel my hands and arms do nothing in the back swing other than downward pressure on the grip and that the backswing is made by the core, chest, and lead shoulder moving everything back.
I tend to take the club back inside. This is an awesome drill to fix this. Thank You.
It just goes to show that everyone has to find the solution that works for them. For me, the externally rotated lead arm causes over rotation with the arm coming off the chest. If my lead arm is already internally rotated it can't rotate any further and I find it easier to stop the club head whipping inside.
Does this work for driver swings?
Such a great drill. I've tried loads of these on Youtube and this is the first one where my lead arm actually stays straight. I filmed it and it really does the trick! The drill really helps you feel what the backswing should feel like to get into that position. Thank you!!!
Just purrrrfect 😍
And I realized that doing this in the follow through to arm parallel also helps the through swing. – so you get many things for free with this just one drill 👍🏽
