Ashleigh Buhai bravely overcame a nightmarish triple-bogey on the 15th to claim a hugely dramatic victory in the AIG Women’s Open, defeating In Gee Chun on the fourth hole of an extraordinary sudden-death play-off at Muirfield.
Thirty-two years on from this Championship’s last play-off, a remarkable conclusion left spectators gripped as Buhai and Chun, who had both finished on 10-under-par after respective rounds of 75 and 70, matched each other shot for shot over three extra trips down the 18th.
The end finally came – in fading light at 9:10pm local time – as Chun made bogey after driving into a fairway bunker and Buhai got up and down superbly from a greenside trap to clinch victory with a par.

Congratulation for Ashleigh, she made her final day and Chun also a great golfer.
Great winning by Ashleigh Buhai. By the way, All spectators (including player's spouse) are not supposed to interrupt etiquette and protocol of end of round salutation. This is why golf is called gentlemen's sports. Let the players and caddies shake hands first, then you can enjoy the winning.
Glad to see Ashleigh win and see Chun come very close.
Was that really the best playoff system this major tournament can come up with? Playing the same hole over and over again testing to see who out-lasts longest… the boned-chilled players, the bored-out audience, the shivering side-line reporter, or the sunset!?

The playoffs between the two sides were close to the death.
Both can only be described as impressive in their recovery from the doughnut bunker.
It was a playoff that will go down in golf history.
They both were struggling with the wind they might as well toss a coin.
Totally conflicted me. I'm South African and absolutely over the moon with Ashley's wonderful victory in such an important tournament! What an achievement! But I'm also in love with Ms Chun. 😂

BUHAI優勝おめでとう～今回程見てて､様々な感情が蠢いた試合は､過去にない…
勿論日本代表選手の優勝を願って､見てたが､終盤は､BUHAIの優勝を心から願ってた
ゴルフは､一番デリケートなスポーツだと考えるが､三日目終了時点で､BUHAI選手の優勝は､
間違いないだろうと最終日に日本人選手の良いプレーが､見れたら良いかあ～と見てた…
しかし最終日のBUHAI選手のスイングは2～3日目とは､全然違ってた
前日迄どんな番手のクラブを握っても同じリズムで､打ててたのに最終日は違ってた
勿論メジャーで､最終日.最終組で､回るだけでも名誉な事でもあるが…
優勝を意識するあまりプレッシャーが､重苦しく自分の身体に伸し掛かり精神的疲労と
肉体的疲労も押し寄せてたようにも見えた
18ホール回ってスコアチェックにクラブハウスに､入る後ろ姿(肩)が､小さくも見えた
そんな状態で､此れからプレーオフに､入るのかと心配しつつもBUHAI選手ガンバレ！と
本当は､試合の流れからすると優勝は．．．．．．
しかし心配を余所にBUHAI選手の優勝！ゴルフは､最後迄解らないと言うけれど…
最後の一打は､ご主人の祈りが､届いたんだと思う
グリーン上で､見守るご主人を見てたら『どんなに困難でくじけそうでも信じることさ
必ず最後に愛(アシュリー)は勝つ』と呟いてたような気がする
本当に心からおめでとう～
そして又次の大会も４日間夜更かしさせて下さい(笑)

Buhai's triple bogey on 15 which eliminated her lead shows just how quickly and easily a round, and tournament, can be unraveled in an instant. So glad for her she rebounded and survived!
What a delight to watch 2 ladies slug it out over 4 play off holes! I've got to say also, that Sky's camera work at times was abysmal! Trying to follow the ball with cameras in the stratosphere was very unpleasant and silly. Why so high Sky?

The husband is happy, they just became millionaires.
Glad Ashleigh came through but what a struggle. The biggest moment of her life was ruined by her drunk husband charging onto the green
and embarrassing her in front of millions of viewers.
Then her so-called friends dousing her with alcohol and pawing her like animals – they seem to have no idea how incredibly difficult the game of golf is.
What sacrifice and discipline goes into reaching that standard.
But then this is typical low class South African behaviour – everything has to be a JOL hey? Idiots.
