Bryson DeChambeau SLAMS new golf ball rules!! (TOO HARSH?!)

Bryson is NOT HAPPY and I DON’T BLAME HIM! Bryson DeChambeau SLAMS new golf ball rules, some have said his opinion is too strong but don’t we all appreciate honesty in the game of golf.

The USGA and R&A stunned the golf world yesterday with the breaking and radical new proposal to create a shorter golf ball for professional golf! The announcement has inspired strong opinions on both sides of the issue, and now the most famous long-bomber in the game today, Bryson DeChambeau, has offered his own.

The new golf ball proposal which would come in the form of a Modern Local Rule would allow tournaments to choose to use golf balls that fly shorter, though these golf balls don’t exist yet and would need to be created by manufacturers…

We have all seen Pro V1, Pro V1x, Bridgestone golf balls, Srixon, golf balls Srixon soft feel, PXG, Vice golf balls, Callaway chrome soft golf ball… which we have seen on tour, from tour players, but now the suggestion is that if we see golf tour players with golf balls… we won’t be able to purchase them because they would be designed to go shorter.

We have also seen Titleist responding to golf ball rollback news, according to Titleist, the No.1 ball in golf, the announcement that golf’s elite events could include a Model Local Rule (MLR) as early as January 2026 will set the game back 30 years.

David Maher, the president and CEO of Acushnet Company, was quoted in the statement as saying that bifurcation was not the answer, because the scoring average on tour had “remained virtually flat”.

  1. Defo not needed, if a player has built there skill and can crush it then so be it, it all comes down to talent, could drive it 350 yards and duff your way to the tee, same with modern clubs, new golfers hitting 7 irons 180 yards but spraying it everywhere, give me a 15 year old set of mizuno irons with older lofts, and learn the skills more

  2. How in the world do you monitor or police this across all the manufacturers of balls? And now you are forcing them to spend money on research and tech for a product they can't sell to the general public. This is by far the most short sited thing I have ever heard of.

  3. Yet the best golfer ever a certain Mr Nicklaus suggested this years ago..

I think he knows quite a bit about golf😉😉

  4. It was the same when they changed the ball from 1.62 to 1.68..

Until it was compulsory to use certain events you had to use the 1.68 while club or general play you could choose which one you wanted to use.

    Non issue here😉😉

  5. hate it. are they gonna roll back clubs next? i think they gain more fans with the mile long tee shots.

  6. They already penalize the average player. By making them play driver faces designed for high swing players. Simple fix make the faces thicker for the big hitters or they will crack And similarly make the driver faces suit the slower speeds. If you raise your level you move up to thicker faces it’s all at your choice and peril since 99.99% of players fall into the latter groups problem solved

  7. I'm totally against this. long hitters don't guarantee victory, and I want to play the same equipment as the pros. This doesn't solve anything!

  8. Your making a mountain out of a mole hill. Ball companies can all make a "Professional" Tour ball. If you are good enough to be a PRO, you play it. It's no different than the transition from aluminum bats in college to wooden bats if you get paid (PRO) to play baseball. If you get paid to play, you use the proper 'equipment'. DO IT, and stop making a fuss.

  9. 30 screwed a lot of people last year by going to a 46 inch shaft so anybody small and stature using a 48 inch shaft could try to keep up with a 7 foot giant

  10. The golf ball has already changed the game. No comparison between an old balata ball and current pro golf balls. I'd like to see more shot makers than long drivers. I agree narrow the fairways and grow more rough.

  11. Most of the big hitters use very low lofted drivers ie DeChambeau uses a 7.5 degree driver, if they made a limit to minimum driver loft ie 9 degree would that bring their distances back 5% or more?

  12. At first, I don't care. After, I don't think they should have 2 different balls.

  13. They are trying to stop Bryson getting a tap in albatross at that par 5 over the water at Bay Hill.
Anyway never mind the ball I've always thought the hole should be a bit bigger!

  14. Against this proposed change. I enjoy watching these players smash the heck out of the ball. Something I will never be able to do. This game doesn't need 2 sets of rules. Just because one can drive the ball a long way doesn't mean you will win the tournament. Sometimes, the R&A and the USGA just need to keep their noses out of things. Heck, move some bunkers, add some bunkers or other obstacles, and force these elite players to really think about the shot they are going to play.

  15. Don’t care … doesn’t affect me. I don’t hit it far enough as it is.

But I understand what they’re doing. They can’t make the golf courses longer for Tour players (they’ve pushed the tees back as far as they can go), so they don’t have much of a choice.

  16. It affects about .05% of golfers. Golfer fans are part of this outrage generation. If they all play the same ball, it's no different than today.

  17. This propose rule will disconnect the every day golfer from elite ones. Imagine if there were two types of basketball, football and soccer, one for elite and one for recreation. This will not work.
Question, how come LIV golf does not have this issue?

  18. All these crazy new hot face drivers..

And super strong lofted irons are the problem, not the ball!

  19. I don’t think it matters Bryson might be long but don’t hit fairways being long off the tee is ok but if wedge game poor and putting poor then what does it matter plus they all hit it long so what point of it other then they can’t make courses bigger

  20. If the PGA does roll back, I'm willing to bet that LIV will keep as is and more players will go to LIV….I would…JS
