  1. Matt, money drives everything. The NBA went to a mini 7-10 play in, the NFL and MLB add wildcards. Your comparisons are not really apples to apples anyways. LIV is purely a Saudi sports-washing venture, no TV money there. I think this is all TBD. I live near San Antonio home of Valero Texas Open. If events like ours keep the $8-10 million purses it will be okay. DP World Tour rank and file is where you will see bigger hits.

  2. All Tiger,Rory and Jay did was make it so there’s no real reason now for PGA guys to be tempted to go over to LIV. Really the only difference now is the team and shotgun start. They copied everything else.

  3. These so-called "designated events" only benefit the best players on Tour. The guys "on the bubble" don't stand a chance to compete; meritocracy be damned. Only 70 to 80 players? LMAOOOO. If anything, make the field 120 players. It seems that limiting the field to only 70 to 80 players, that the PGA is able to pocket the rest of the cash with a field of 70 compared to a field of 120. The PGA has ALWAYS catered to the stars on Tour. This designated event does just that.

  4. I've never liked no cut partial field events AKA WGC events. Love seeing the big names struggle to make a cut and being humbled in the process as well as rewarding the hot unknown player at the same time. If they wanted to preserve meritocracy and create limited field event why not just have top 50 in fedex auto qualify and then have a Monday qualifier for an additional 20 from whole membership? That would create something more for the avid golf fan like me to follow and not be screwing the general membership.

  5. Defending champion news conference, sponsers can no longer invite local tour pros, passed champions and local college players that local fans want to see.
