Hi I’m Matt Lockey, welcome to my Coach Lockey YouTube Channel. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, and to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf course vlogs, golf challenges, golf tips, golf lessons, golf club reviews and the odd golf club unboxing. So pretty much everything golf!

I want to help you play better golf by providing coaching videos on all topics about golf. How to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
As well as helping you produce the best long game you can have, I will help you lower your scores by chipping better, stopping duff and thin chips, pitching the ball closer and creating backspin like the tour pros. Finally, I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts too!

  1. I play a 15° 3W. Clubhead speed with it is ~100MPH, 75g shaft. With my numbers, it’s a good fit. That said, if one club HAD to come out of my bag, it’d be that one. I might hit it twice a round on longer par-5s. I almost never hit it off the tee and I think doing so is a huge mistake that amateurs make far too often. Whatever accuracy is gained over a driver – and for most everyone it’s less than they believe – is more than offset by the necked 3W that flies 210 and rolls out to 225. On a 410-yard par-4, now you’ve left yourself 185 home, very little chance of making a four, and bringing the dreaded “other” into play. If you’re Henrik Stenson and just wear out the center of your fairway wood, I get it. For the rest of us – and I’m a very good ball striker and low index player – a 7mm miss low and on the heel is going to cost dearly.

  2. Brilliant video coach helped me decide what fairways I should carry as a senior golfer my fitter has recommended going to 5 and 7 wood so you have confirmed his fitting thanks again keep up the good work

  3. I have the Titleist 913 and it is at 15*. This seems well suited to me. When I bought it, the fitter was a bit of an air bag so I'm not sure I had the best customer experience and I'm not sure if I was truly fit correctly. I hit it pretty well, going as far as 250 but typically in the 230-240 range. My 5 wood is the strong Tightlies which is a good gap between my 4 iron and 3 wood.

  4. I don't carry a 3w. My 5w is 17.5* of loft and I have a similar playing field. I tend to hit down on the ball.

  5. I use a 15degree 3 wood but tipped 1inch Hazardous smoke 6.5 shaft now at 42 1/2 inch. My club course is very hilly so up hill 3W up a sharp hill is well lofted anyway 15deg become 18-19deg. Same with my sharp down hill fairway wood shots using 5W or 7W are well delofted. Or trying hit a 3w on the side slope with ball above your feet or well below your feet.
Again all completely different shot set ups.

  6. 17 degree Benross. I've had it for years and you're not getting me to change it anytime soon…😋

  7. I've always like fairway woods. I have stock tour edge 15.5 deg 3 wood and 19.5 deg 5 wood. My 7 is a Thomas 21 degree and my 9 wood is a bazooka 26 deg.

  8. I use a ping 5 wood, 3 wood length, 17.5 deg turned down to16 deg. I only have some 90 mph swing speed. Ping fairways are v easy to launch.

  9. Used to hit 3 wood well. Had lessons and lowered my ball flight which was great for all clubs apart from 3 wood, started struggling hitting it high enough. 110 ss so not a speed issue. Grabbed an old 5 wood in my parts bin and wowsers, easy to elevate and going as far as my best 3 woods used to go, but so much more consistent.

  10. Fed up of these vids, if we all listened to you all I could stand on the tee box and that’s it, just stand there not moving as apparently you mustn’t turn your shoulders, must do this ,don’t do that, so frustrating

  11. I use my 3W so often off the tee, it's 15 degrees, and I swing it around 108mph. Carries around 250-265. I was not custom fit for my 3W, but was for my driver and my irons, and know I need a X-Flex.

  12. Ditched my 3 wood a few months back and went with a higher lofted 4 wood. I’m seeing much better shaped shots and getting much more predictable shots along with a carry increase as well

  13. LOL… don't even carry it..Used to have 16.5..Moved to 16-degree hybrid adjusted to 18 degree and happy with it

  14. I’m more in the “Mark” category. I present plenty of loft. I always hit my 9* driver off the deck, on long par 5’s. I’m near scratch, by the way, so I’m not recommending this to anyone.
