  1. I really understand the disgust with the modern All Star game.
These 2nd generation players were givers suggesting that this generation as takers. Can't say I blame em.

  2. If Bird would have actually cared to improve his 3 point shot he would have definitely been the best 3 point shooter in history.. JJ Redick would have never made the NBA in 1985

  3. If all I knew Of this JJ person was these comments, I'd presume he just recently started following the game.

  4. Completely insane what JJ said. What alternate universe are you living in? I hate Larry Bird because he was a STONE COLD KILLER! Same for MJ, Magic, The Doctor, The "Logo", Sir Charles, Kareem, Shaq, Wilt, Kobe, Bill Russell, the "Pistol", Isaiah etc… that would annihilate today's NBA's "Firemen" and "Plummers". EA

  5. Why People don't like to talk about how the Celtics used Physical Play against Teams Larry Bird included and People acting like Larry Bird was an Angel He was not an Angel He was a Dirty Player I watched the Bull Crap He used to do!

  6. Don't Disrespect Laimbeer, and Mahorn! You People have a Lot of nerve! Look this up Pure Facts Zeke and Laimbeer have a Winning Playoff Record against Bird and His Celtics! I don't appreciate You People always disrespecting former Detroit Pistons! These Three Clowns 🤡 are biased!

  7. The old guys would have defended that three point line. They played defense. They fought for that rebound and the second chance. Now you get to travel, carry the ball, and do this thing called a eurall step. Please do you realize what Dr J would do to a defender if he's allowed to handle the ball do those things? It would be Murder!!

  8. Reddick typical Duke wannabee who will never be remembered in future generations. Ignorant comments made by him do not surprise me

  9. Red Dick is full of crap. He has obviously not watched much 1980s ball. Bird thought less was more with the 3's. Sometimes early in a game but so many times he would resort to the 3 as a DEADLY WEAPON to put important games out of reach in the 3rd quarter. Bird could shoot from 30, 40 feet and never practiced a bit because he didn't believe the 3 was a central part of the game. It wasn't at the time

  10. This is what makes all these old heads embarrassing and why people under 40 who actually know anything about the sport they care about have stopped watching these fools on the major networks in droves. Not only are they completely taking JJ's argument out of context entirely in order to further their pathetic narrative, they constantly do this exact BS and completely ignore data and tape. The hardest defenses were BY FAR in the late 90's early 2000's because they had a lot of fouling as well as complex defenses and zones. All data confirms this, and anyone who knows anything about basketball watching a spurs v lakers game in 2001 or pistons v indi around that time would agree if they are honest.

Then, while these old heads claim JJ is the one watching youtube clips its them picking and choosing. Sure, there were hard fouls that were wrongly ignored in the 80's. Sure, going into the paint came with more contact than today, and sure there were dirty teams that replaced skill and talent with cheap-shots; but, that wasn't the entire NBA every game. While all the greats of any era could play in any era you are full of shit if you think journeymen from 40+ years ago could play in today's NBA. Every player is bigger, faster, and stronger. The physicality on a play to play basis is significantly greater because of this. Not to mention it would be laughable to watch some of these players from the 80s try and bully a modern player… If you think because someone was allowed to put a hand on another player while guarding them it erases these facts then you don't know a thing about basketball. Modern players would ignore that BS like they were playing children – the athletic difference is that great. How about you try chasing Curry around for a full game and tell me that isn't physical, he runs about 25x more in terms of distance traveled than an NBA player from 30+ years ago BTW. It's the nature of insecure old men to never admit that younger men surpassed them. The funny thing is, though, that those who have really accomplished things can take pride in what they've passed on to the next generation, they gave a gift that makes humanity great… the ability, no – the inevitability – of the next generation learning and growing from the prior in order to surpass them.

The sad truth is these old reporters actually don't know f-all about basketball, they are a hoax. Now we have access to technology that allows us to actually view every game and analyze them at a level that shows how little these old scam-artists know. They report bullshit, they don't cover strategy or technique, they are gossip columnists and their time is up!

  11. The NBA is so one-note now that it’s boring. I’m going to a Celtics game at the end of the month that I gifted to my brother for his birthday and I’m not looking forward to it at all. It makes me kinda sad tbh.

  12. JJ is just a stupid fucking idiot, Larry would destroy the NBA now and jj would shit his pants trying to guard Larry.

  13. The NBA now should be the red carpet league because it's up and down and 90 % of the players can't spell defense.

  14. I agree with JJ Reddick on one point that Bird is not an all time great 3 point shooter. But Larry Bird made them when they mattered the most. Larry Bird is the most clutch shooter of all time. Larry Bird's shooting form was effective at the time to avoid blocks as he released the ball much higher than players in today's NBA. But his release didn't have that smoothness that you see in today's game. The training early on for shooting technique has improved dramatically. Bird was the greatest shooter of his era but is not in the league for purely shooting 3s like many players after him. Reddick's stupid comment about the physicality of the game was completely off the mark. He must not have watched the Knicks/Pistons in the late 1980's early 1990s. They beat the hell out of other teams. If today's NBA allowed for the physical defense like in the 1980s and early 90s, the percentages would go down dramatically.

  15. THE best you could do is compare the player against the time, Steph, 2012-13 45.3% (NBA ave 35.9) so steph was just under 10% better than league, Steph in 17-18 42.3% league, 36.2%… so he was better by 6.1%… So two years for Larry, 84-85 42.7% league avg 28.2 so Bird was +14.5% better, 90-91 League 32% Larry 38.9 so almost 7% better…. Steph is that much better than others now and Larry was that much better then others then….

  16. Lol 😂 JJ has now immortalized himself as a hilariously bad judge of talent and this will be shown forever to mock him. Kind of makes the network look bad for hiring him for that job.
