I have to disagree with the WM not growing the game. To further the comparison, the WM open is the spectacle – like when Tiger burst on the scene, and the Masters was the perception of golf prior to his arrival. The game is growing at a rate since Tiger and more recently Covid – and that the younger, more stadium feel of the famous 16th is a personality to be celebrated.
All the events have their history – but a little rowdiness (Happy Gilmore but diluted slightly) might not necessarily be a bad thing (I grew up in the stuffy golf clubs and antiquated views being now in my mid 40’s – I love the way it’s going)
In addition to the point of spectators that enjoy it but don’t play – I hate the game of cricket, but in my youth we would get loaded at Old Trafford whilst watching the test matches – just for the atmosphere
If you still haven't chosen an NFL team to support..I will formally invite you to jump on the Cincinnati Bengals bus. They're the working class heroes of the league that cant quite get over that last bump. I will send you guys some gear if you like
