FOX Sports’ lead college football analyst Joel Klatt gives his reactions to the NFL Combine including how much we should take from Anthony Richardson’s record-breaking workout and why Alabama QB Bryce Young’s measurements shouldn’t change our opinion of him. Then, Joel shares his insight from calling C.J. Stroud’s games over the last 2 seasons and what his Ohio State teammate, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, projects to be in the NFL. Finally, Joel shares what makes Texas RB Bijan Robinson so special and how high he should go in the draft.

  1. As a long time Buckeye fan (sixty years) until Bobby Hoying, Ohio State did not have a passing QB. After Bobby the team had playmaking QB's that were exciting, Troy, Braxton, JT. Finally a passing QB Dwayne Haskins at Ohio State. Heartbreaking he never got a chance to grow and become a starting NFL QB. Then as fans we see Justin Fields a pretty good passing QB in a RB body who will make an NFL impact. CJ follows and we're seeing a real refined QB in a passing system, also has high NFL potential. Not to mention Ohio born Joe Burrow who grew into being a really good NFL QB who smartly left Ohio State because of timing and injury. As football fans, the Ohio State faithful has not been able to see one of our QB's be impactful in the NFL. We are smart football fans that know the game and what we see on the field. Buckeye players have had great success at every position in the NFL but not at QB. I think we are about to with Ryan Day as coach and a long line of good QB recruits. That's why there is pressure on that position at The Ohio State University, we want to see a great Buckeye QB in the NFL and win a Superbowl.

  2. Remember Tim Tebow. One of the best college QBs. NFL? Not so much. Compare Tebow and Richardson. Both great arm strength. Passing accuracy both not so great. Athletic ability both are strong runners. Richardson a lot faster. QB/ football knowledge, Tebow good, Richardson not so much. So what’s the buzz on Richardson? Maybe he would be a better fit as a fast strong tight end.

  3. i’m not gonna limit jsn to a slot wr because that’s where he was asked to play. was he great at it? definitely. but a guy of his talent should get a shot at being an outside guy while still having heavy play in the slot.

  4. Huge buckeye fan here… our fans are easily the best fans in the land… we also have some of the worst fans in land

  5. A lot of CJ’s demeanor came from his upbringing with his mom. But even more of his demeanor and character is his faith in JESUS CHRIST. Not enough credit to him for his ability as a QB. Some of the critics are not taking everything into his evaluation. Like the type of plays called versus his stats. Comparing his stats to others like Bryce Young. Difference’s between teams coaching staffs plays called weather. All those things do make a difference. Get smarter! Team bias doesn’t produce truth.

  6. He played slot because Olave and Wilson were ahead of him. He measured 6'1 so he could be a #1, OSU planned on him playing everywhere this year until injury.

  7. Another key recent injury was the Ojabo from Michigan last year who I believe tore an achilles during a pro day workout. Cost him a first round draft spot for sure. There is enough film out there on these guys from playing college games against other top players for proper evaluation. Not making them do such things and making them feel their evaluation is what they do on the field would also be mroe reason for them to play in bowl games where they will be facing better players in game situations for better evaluation.

  8. Richardson was literally one of the worst passers in college football. Insane to think he could go over someone like Stroud

  9. Thanks for those words on Stroud Joel. A lot of people use this "California Kid" moniker like he's some Malibu surfer dude with no drive when the real truth is he had to walk through a minefield of adversity to get to Indianapolis. His father is serving a 38 year prison sentence and CJ could have easily followed in those footsteps. His mother put in a lot of work to save her son's life and it's so disrespectful to her when people denigrade the man her son has become. Especially when you see what he could have been. Every Buckeye fan should be proud to have had Stroud as a representative of that program.

  10. I really like what Dan Campbell had to say about the combine. And in a way you're kind of reiterating what he said. I believe these kids were so competitive that they wanted to get the best time and make the best showing at the combine, especially for those who were attempting to improve their stock or at least show that they were higher than they were rated. But when injuries have to start happening like this in the combine oh, one thing it's preparation or lack up. The other is competition. In the combine is there just to get and idea and equivalate there skill combine numbers to their season proformance. But there is no exact science yet. I honestly love watching the combine. But I really love watching football.

  11. Bryce Young and CJ Stroud are probably the top two QBs in the upcoming draft. I think CJ Stroud tested well not sure about Bryce Young. I think some of the drills in the combine are valuable and others could be questionable at best like the drills for O lineman.

  12. In the old days QB's who got drafted in the first round had played 3-5 years with most of that being starters. They threw a lot of footballs, had a lot of tape, and generally were who they were at that point, both physically, mentally, and accuracy-wise. Nowadays though you're dealing with kids who only started one, maybe two years, and are doing so at 19-20, instead of 21-23. The new normal, if it's not already, is going to be guys with only 1-2 years starting. NFL teams are going to have to accept that college may largely no longer be the minor leagues it used to be, at least not at QB, and start planning for how they'll develop a guy like AR.

  13. YEAH 👍. OL should not run the 40. Nor should DL for that matter. But I just think it's cool when a RICHARDSON RUNS A 4.4 as a 245 pound QB. IDK it is a little like a SLAVE MARKET yeah I said it

  14. Huge eye roll every time I here the name Anthony Richardson. What was he, 53% completion percentage in college? Lmao that's not a project, that's a complete remodel.

  15. Crazy to think they think Bryce is better than CJ. Don’t get me wrong, he’s good, but a small frame does not make a good fit for the nfl. CJ and Bryce can perform at the same level, so it makes no sense to pick the smaller guy.

  16. Turned it off after the beginning. I want to hear a reaction not you complaining about the setup.

  17. And in 3 -5 yrs with still no NFL Playoff wins for any OSU Qbs Joe will have to come on and baby-talk OSU fans ( stop it stop your an elite program the NFL is just a different beast not everyone produces heck most don't produce good NFL QBs) Meanwhile Michigan had the GOAT 🙂 lol JJ ran over Hickman

  18. Listen I would take Chris over everyone even thought he greatly underachieved at that osu but his perfect for the nfl where he never has to run for a first down his going to be a super star hope he wins something in the nfl

  19. Well you if there going to be paid millions to be pro but cant run a 40 come on he had to know hey my hamstring has bugging me for four yes but I’m going to sneak in for my payday if they can’t get through one week without injury’s then me as my job to evaluate this guys sorry he was going to get hurt in first week of practice and u cost me a pick a pick on a guy that might have been a superstar sorry the standard is the standard

  20. What if this dude running that blow out a hamstring goes to the bench and does 5rep blows his peck out then what all I’m saying if they can’t get through one week with months working on this one week then I’m sorry that guy that gets hurt that week saves the team a headache and saves a pick I feel bad for them but these injuries have been there and been his at some point

  21. That 8 seconds of input on Bijan Robinson was really opening. JSN didn’t play basically all last year and gives him more air time than a generational RB from Texas. Come on man

  22. Why aren't people talking about Drew Brees and Russel Wilson when talking about Bryce Young. All 3 guys were listed at 205lbs at there combine.

  23. I’m just gonna say this, no disrespect towards CJ but he lacks the leadership I think a QB needs, look at Brady, always rallying the troops no matter the score. I’ve seen him play a lot and he has benefited from playing in a weak division guarded by an elite oline. He’s a incredible talent, but he also had 5 1st rd receivers to throw to. When he had to face adversity, vs Michigan he crumbled which is why his legacy at OSU has an asterisk. So I think he will be a good qb but not of the level of a Joe Burrow or Patty Mahomes
