One of the NHL greats Ray Bourque, joins Chris and Tim to talk about his early hockey days, dealing with his mom passing, getting hit in the face by a puck and the time he saved Chris’ life.
I remember being a young kid and opened a Scotiabank Hockey acct aimed at young kids and you’d get a monthly hockey magazine and the one I truly remember was one with Ray Bourque and another Bruins young d guy and they called them Blue Chip prospects. Was so happy for him to win that cup with the avalanche
OMG Guys what can anyone say – Tremendous !!! Ray Borque and Bos Mont stories the best. And Stapes chiming in is ok too Keep em coming guys. Best hockey pod in the world and Stapes has not even started up on Russia yet.
Great show. Memories. Some awesome some not so much. It's great to here about some of the behind the scenes action. Ray was like Boston's iron horse. Great work Chris!
Bourque was amazing, super solid player in every aspect of the game. I remember the Bruins beating the Habs sp many times and it was only because Bourque was such a force. The guy was a tank with top end skill.
Bourque takes a little time to warm up, but he tells great stories once he's ready! That Lou's Blues story is hysterical. Bourque will never forget it & Knuckles will never remember it! LOL …Great episode. …I wanted to hear about the Phil Esposito story, and that play with Mario Lemieux. One day, do a part 2.
i remember playing one game against ray back in december of 1974 at the mount royal arena in montreal it was a late night garage league playing amongst friends and ray was only 14 at the time playing against older guys of 18 and 19 but we could see he had talent especially his skating , i didn;t know who he was but i remember i had no helmet for that game and ray offered me to wear his i;ll never forget it was a red ccm helmet it was a very nice gesture given the fact we didn;t know each other a few years later a friend of mine told me that kid we had played against was ray bourque and played for boston.
Great interview! Up until now, I’ve never seen the other side of Ray;his impression of Rene Angelil was hysterical. Also, it was interesting to hear about everything that led up to the trade to Colorado 23 years ago. You definitely need to bring him back b/c I could listen to him tell stories for hours.
living NW from Montreal I grew up a Boston Fan, I was either Espo, Orr, Cheevers , after Raymond won with the Avs I got to shake his hand concrats saying I wished he could won the cup with Bruins, Bob Hartley was the Coach he lives near our hometown, same hometown as Kevin Lowe(Lachute, Quebec), that makes 7 cups i witnessed, 6 with Kev one with the Avs
One comment from Ray that is so true: even if you are drafted 1 st choice, it doesn't automatically make you a star, no way, you have to have an impact. Work your ass off, prove yourself.

A Montrealer who played for Boston interviewed by a Bostonian who played in Montreal.

As a Habs fan, I hate the Bruins…just a bit less then the Leafs…but always respected Ray. World class player…

My favorite defenseman, just wish he played for the Canadiens!
Just love how you guys seem to look younger as you tell stories of each other and laugh about it. Can't get this anywhere. Great job Tim and Chris.

Love the Habs but always admired Ray Bourque as a player and professional. Never once mailed in a game.
Great Interview Chris & Tim. #77

Awesome, in his last playoffs at 40 years old Ray averaged 28:32 mins a night!

You're a good man knuckles
Knuckles: a Boston guy who played for the Habs
Bourque: a Montreal guy who played for the B’s
It’s amazing how Bourque accomplished so much while being in the shadow of Bobby Orr.
Bourque was amazing, super solid player in every aspect of the game. I remember the Bruins beating the Habs sp many times and it was only because Bourque was such a force. The guy was a tank with top end skill.
I would put Ray Bourque right up there with any d man in gthe game except maybe Bobby Orr.
Bourque is a guy you could build a franchise around.
Great man!! From my hometown in st Laurent…he was very influential on us youth back in the day…

probably one of the greatest swan song ever!

Just came across this podcast. Great guests, Knuckles!
Good interview cut short unfortunately…. Please have Ray on again.
20+ year man, great to the last drop. Thanks guys.
TGOAT HOSTS TGOAT 🎉❤
I'm really glad I stumbled across this podcast. The content is excellent, some great interviews. I really enjoy it.

Too humble – put up massive numbers and is in the upper tier of players all-time and probably 2nd best dman to ever play
Good interview
But should of spent some time talking about the Habs/Bruins rivalry in the 80s and 90s
Well Ray did have a tee time lol
A really great defenseman awesome team player! Great to bring those stars and their NHL beginning.
