Wait what rise was this ? We have been a lower half team longer than i can recall. The club has had a policy of development of players and then having to sell them on. That is not unique to to this club either we have just been very focused on a good youth policy. The problem is that it comes with a risk trying to replace so many players in a short time span is something a lot of clubs deal with. The more success you get with it the more teams come in for those players. What can you do, its not possible in the day and age to stop poaching players. To say this is "unbelieveable" is pretty dumb this is what happens to most teams out of the top 8 it is the ebb and flow of football.
Saints fan – you say rise and fall, but we were in league 1 not long ago. Obviously Matt Le Tissier is the legend.
Geo is one reason far saints struggling. The new owners do admit it was a bad move to miss out on a striker back the summer window
finally a southampton vid, we're shocking aren't we
Relegation may be a blessing an opportunity to clear out the deadwood. Bed in the likes of Ballard and bring in some more exciting younger talent 👍
watching this has confirmed my feelings that we'll be relegated. Maybe it'll be good for us, who knows
YES…
One of best Academy's and produces of players.
Can't keep selling players..at some point you need to keep some…
I'm used to stuff like this. I grew up a Pittsburgh Pirates fan in MLB. They constantly sell their best prospects that turn into the stars of the sport. The owners make so much money doing this rather than try to be competitive. It's disgusting
Being a Southampton fan has been MEGA depressing these last few seasons.
Poor managerial decisions will cost us premier league football. Heartbreaking that my hometown club has become a joke of a club!
Gonna be a painful watch 😂
They've had a bad 4-5 years in the transfer window, you don't need to watch the vid now.
As a saints fan… i hate seeing this 🙁 sad sad times for my beloved club.
As a saints fan, before watching the video, it was a couple of awful managerial appointments that really damaged us. Mauricio pellegrino and now Nathan jones. We sacked puel after we reached a cup final (and should have won) and a 7th place finish, and we replace him with a manager from deportivo alaves with a win rate of 34%??? Awful decision making from the club.
Sacking Adkins after back to back promotions was also a strange one. Marcus Liebherr really saved us, and when his daughter inherited it she didn’t really care. And then Gao wanted to treat us like a child who wasn’t spoilt and have us be “self-sufficient” while signing players like guido carrillo who scored 0 goals for us as a striker, despite being our record signing.
But people forget just HOW GOOD our team was for league 1, probably the best team in league 1 in terms of players there has ever been.
I'm not as optimistic. How will they attract the next Mitchell, Cortese and Pochettino?
Think you missed one of the biggest factors which is the Chinese government going back on itself and restricting its buisness owners from making investments in overseas sports teams, so we were getting no money for up to 3 seasons and the only way we could buy was to sell.
I think dragon good owner issue is he came to club what Goa has left has big mess I feel not getting striker in summer has effected are season and I fear Jones is not right man for Southampton we need a attacking experience manger
How could you forget the two separate 9-0 losses. As a Saints fan these felt like rock bottom, but now here comes relegation 🙁
Why does this nigga talk like that. Like Nigga slow down, Jesus Christ
Southampton since 2017 went to the dumps by poor managerial appointments, signing multiple dross players and not having youth academy prospects since Ward Prowse and Shaw. Hasenhuttl did get them going after his first 9-0 humiliation and in 2020 are in a European race but his second 9-0 humiliation things went up in flames. Only survived because there were far worse teams than them. Hasenhuttl got the boot and still things are way worse under Nathan Jones. I don't want Southampton to go down but relegation is inevitable. They ain't the worst team in the Premier League. Still believe Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Everton are far worse than them.
We're currently paying the price for a series of poor managerial appointments, as well as several marquee signings that flopped. We've been forced to sign young potential, not identifying the influence of players like Romeu and Ings, neither of whom we have replaced. As much as I like Lavia, he needs a mentor.
As a pompey fan this makes my happy
Best thing we can do is get rid of Che Adams, absolute shower of shite
They can't say we inconsistent now. We very much constantly lose 😂
I wish we could go back to having great form for a couple seasons to get us running again
Saints fan here. Great video but one part was wrong – Gao was a ‘silent’ owner. He gave pretty much full control to Martin Semmens. The credit you gave to Gao, should go to Martin 👍
They made a huge cock up appointing Jones. I'm so disappointed because they have now put us in such an awkward position. The best thing right now is for Jones to go (immediately), and we get a top European manager in who will instantly get the respect of the players (and we then get that much needed 'manager bounce'). But it's so awkward, because Jones hasn't really had long enough yet to fully put his stamp on things. But we don't have time. We are not a training camp for unproven managers to learn and earn their stripes (and make their rookie mistakes). We are already looking doomed. He didn't get a reaction from the players upon his arrival (loses first four matches), and things are not any better now. The board has to be brutally cruel and sack this guy. I'm sorry, he seems like he's a nice bloke, and he hasn't been given a proper amount of time, but the club (and its survival) always comes first. Start looking immediately for new candidates, speak to them, find out who's interested, and then pay Jones off. He will get another job.
Sacking Hassenhutl was a difficult decision (but apparently, he had always lost the dressing room). At the time, we were not that bad off in the league, and a manager with a very good European pedigree would, for sure, have been interested (this is the premiership, after all). So, getting somebody in who was equally as good as Ralf was what was needed. That was not time to be pissing about and taking risks. This relegation is on the board.
Right now the manager is obviously completely wrong for SFC and unless they get rid now we're in for a terrible time. Relegation looks likely now regardless, that fate was sealed when they recruited Nathan Jones, but no way does anyone want Jones at the helm in the Championship because we need a fully galvanised club to achieve promotion and with him at the helm he creates division…
It’s not over yet. Plenty of games still to play.
I would be surprised if they stayed up this season
After this video was released, Nathan Jones was history.
Can't wait to see Southampton being stuck at dead last and got relegated to League One.
Even if we do get relegated I'm sure we will bounce back we might aswell embrace relegation and use it as a reset button and become a team like Ajax or Red Bull Salzburg and create/buy insane talents and sell them and create a loop like this. The extra money could also improve our scouts so more younger talents can be found like the one that moved to dortmund recently
It's a game of money not football, hence their dilemma.
Narrator?
You know, modern football has been accused of being a front for money laundering and when you the happenings at the big clubs the more and more it seems to be true. There are good owners who not only want to profit but put out a competitive squad but there are a lot of owners deemed "fit and proper persons" by the FA that are so incompetent that you have to aske questions.
Good video
Why are you talking so fast.
Pretty shameful to basically steal HITTC-7's logo and pass.your videos off as his
Holy shit take a breath and slow down
Championship player tino livermento 😂 he came from Chelsea and Latvia who came from Man City. Our board haven’t invested in the team 😂😂 we spent the 2nd most in world football in the last window 😂 clearly knows f all about Southampton
This is painful 😂. It’s been a gentle decline but I’m not surprised we are in the position we are. Crap signings A.Armstrong Bednarek, Walcott, Elyo, ect, even worse managerial appointments Hughes, pellegrino, Jones have all contributed to it. Honestly I hate to admit it but being relegated and having a reset seems the best option for the long term. If we can keep half our current squad together we’ll be straight back up im sure.
The new owner has spent 150 Million im his First full Season how has he not invested?
it started after sacking claude puel.
yes his playing style was boring but never forget we sold mane and pelle our two best players and replaced them with nathan redmond.
puel deserved another season. i still think about claude puel
As a Southampton fan were playing too many inexperienced players that’s why we’re losing and sub all the decent experienced players or selling them
