The Ultimate Ball Position Guide for Golf | Basic Ball Position Setup for Golf

Ball position is one of the most important setup fundamentals in golf to provide consistent ball strikes and the ideal angle of attack for each club. Many golfers don’t think too much about ball position or are unsure of where to position the golf ball for each type of golf club. PGA Teaching professionals Ian Mackenzie-Olson & Thomas Campbell from Swing Lab Performance Golf provide the ultimate ball position guide to help improve your golf game.
With your wedges or shorter golf clubs you will want to place the ball position closer to the middle of your stance. As the clubs get longer you will want to move that ball position further forward until you reach driver where you will want the ball position to be off your left heel (for a right-handed golfer). Club Path, Angle of Attack and Ball Flight will be affected when the ball position is not consistent, which is why it is important to maintain good setup fundamentals.

  1. What your saying makes sense, but the club position and your Sternum the Low Point behind the golf ball, which will force you to hit down, and what is the Height of your Tee to the center of the clubface for Irons and Driver

  2. Love it. I don't have a specific formula but I know with the longer irons I tend to get a little steep and take too much of a divot causing a left miss. Going to try to move it up!
