  1. Perfect subject for me. Just been custom fit for Ping G430 irons from 5 iron down. Need to fill the gap from 5 iron to driver and am deliberating between fairway woods and hybrids. This was a great help. Keep up the good work.

  2. I have moved over to 5h and dropped my 5i. Much better flight and control. Rough hits still very good with 5h.

  3. I would play either one over a 5 iron for sure. Slower swingers would probably do better with the 9 wood and those who are faster the 5 hybrid. Andy is fast for an average golfer and probably hits the 9 wood too high. That's why it didn't go further than the 5 hybrid.

  4. I ditched my 22 degree hybrid for a 425 9 wood. A lot happier, all around more consistency and no more hooks.

  5. hi Andy I started at a 54 hc now 29 never had a fitting or lesson never fort I was good enough to do do a fitting and that so don't know my yardage fir to know what set up like what clubs to have in the bag and on a tight budget wud u recommend doing it or stay as I am

  6. Besides the shaft length, the difference between the clubs is the mass (mass = volume X density) of the club head, which suggest the 9 wood would be longer than the 4/5 hybrid if all other variables were equal (dry ball, zero wind, mild temp, etc) Once you add those variables, all bets in predicting outcomes would be off. Justin's experience below and that of The Average Golfer adds credence to this thesis. Bag what works for you in the prevailing environment where you most often play the game.

  7. I think I'm going to pick up a 9 wood to test from your results. No doubt that CG is going to shoot the ball higher with a steeper decent. I've hit 5 hybrid and never hit a 9 wood. Thank you for the excellent video!

  8. You can spec the Ping woods with a 2 inch shorter shaft which would give you a similar length to the hybrid and be more controllable

  9. I prefer a fairway wood head on a hybrid length shaft. The fw head flies straighter and the shorter shaft gives me lower flight and more control.

  10. I can say this. I’m a low single digit handicap golfer. I tried the G430 LST 9.0 driver and it went straight into the bag. After, I tried hitting the 7 wood and found it traveled roughly 5 yards over my best hit 4 iron but with an incredibly easy swing. Tried the 9 wood same result, ridiculously easy to hit with high penetrating ball flight that lands on the green and sits. So far 3 rounds in with both and all I can say is everyone of my playing partners is looking forward to putting them in the bag. For reference I’m 50 but even my buddy’s son who is a plus 2 (20 yr old) said I got to have these. JT is using one and so is Hideki so the old man stigma on these clubs is diminishing. Golf is hard enough stop making it harder!

  11. very interesting review…i liked it….thinking of going with a 5 , 7 wood in the Stealth2 HD and a 9 wood in the stealth 2…..do you think my gapping is too close and should i go 5 wood 9 wood instead or just 5 and 7…..thx for what you do…cheers from Canada

  12. I’m playing a Stealth 9 wood and 6 hybrid Love the confidence both of them give me on course

  13. Wonderful video! Extremely pertinent. Exactly the end of the bag that I'm looking to settle. I'm definitely thinking about replacing my 5 iron with a 5 hybrid. I especially love the adjustability of the club because it allows you to perfectly fit it where it is needed in gapping. Thank you again

  14. I have a 7,9, and 11 wood, I’ve tried hybrids and I can’t hit them as easily as I can the woods

  15. Andy you are a rare average golfer. You hit competing clubs very consistently. I am a low handicap player but I do not get on with a hybrid nearly as well as a fairway. I hit it well but not nearly as consistently. Thanx for this comparo
