DISCOVER GOLD at the RACV Goldfields Golf Club

We’ve played most of the golf courses the Ballarat region has to offer, so we thought it was about time we headed out to what is recognised as one of the toughest courses in the region, the RACV Goldfields Golf Club.

Nestled in amongst a small community of homes this course weaves its way through a beautiful forest, but don’t get to distracted by the scenery, when we said it was a difficult course, we meant it.

We were lucky to get the course when the greens were soft and receptive, but when they are dry, the greens can be deadly, you’ll often find yourself with challenging tee shots, look no further than the daunting tee on the 2nd hole, death to the left and the right, couple that with a blind tee shot and you’ve got one hell of a good hole.

That’s not to say this course is unfair in any way, the holes might be tight, with lots of trees, bunkers, and difficult greens but there is some short par 4’s out there that give you a chance to make birdie if you can keep your ball in play.

You might want to get yourself a cart when you play at the RACV Goldfields golf course, it’s not the longest course in the world, but it can be quite hilly at times as you wind its way around the course.

Conclusion:

The RACV Goldfields Golf Course is well worth a visit, there is a ton to do while your there so we recommend using the onsite accommodation and exploring it over a weekend, if you’re a beginner golfer you’ll need to pack some extra golf balls, but you will love the experience, lots of fun to be had for all.

  1. Hey Trevor and Damien,
Looks like a challenging course. Looks in great nick too. With my driving the way it is at the moment. I'd be spending plenty of time in the trees lol.
    Cheers
    Joe

  2. Played there a couple of times, and I don't know why, but it just doesn't grab me. Nothing wrong with it i don't think. Just not a fan. Would much prefer Buninyong, Ballarat, Midlands, Hepburn and Trentham up there.
