  1. The way I got this to sink in was to feel like I'm pushing back with my left foot, literally like my left foot is trying to jump backwards (away from the ball).

  2. I like to imagine trying to almost push the front foot forward to help with this, works quite well

  3. I completely agree and understand what you are explaining, however when I watch myself hit a 7i on slow motion video, my lead ( left ) leg is still bowed outward, even after impact…….I 'am rotating my body thru however my timing is off and I can't seem to find exactly how to post up my lead leg sooner ..this is creating mostly very weak shots……any other drills to help?…thanks

  4. Great video Pete!! Long time subscriber. I’ve been practicing this move for the last couple of months. Major improvements in ball striking.

  5. Glad I didn't know this. That's well too complicated probably gonna do more damage then good

  6. I think you need to explain for us that how important the arms are and to set the club and make it feel as light as possible.i focused on rotation and hip turn to much and destroyes my swing. You should always follow your bio mechnical data 1 swing is not for eveyone,

  7. I'd just be happy to get onto a fairway with grass like that, hitting 3 inches behind it wouldn't bother me.

  8. Why is this thought to be a new swing thought tho? Lots of instruction out there saying to straighten the left leg.

Also, perhaps an explanation of WHY it works would be helpful.

  9. The idea of "pulling" your lead hip "backwards" vs "driving" the trail hip "forward" is a very interesting swing thought

  10. As a former baseball player, I never had too much of a problem with this. Posting up on the front side feels very natural.

  11. Thanks mate. It's something I've fought with my whole life. At times when I get to impact my right foot actually has the toes in the air.

  12. Transformative. I have always struggled with correct hip movement and early extension. Not any more.
    Cheers

  13. Exactly what my coach told me to do first time I was there💪💪
    Move the knee first.
When that works straighten the leg. A 30 minute lesson and I went from a fade/slice to a baby draw with my mid irons. Still had to put loads of hours to get consistency in doing this but that small change made such a big difference 😎

  14. I find one of the things crucial to ideal lower body movement many golfers, especially older ones, lack is side-bend action in the spine which differs from tilt back or towards the ball. In the backswing of good ball strikers the spine curves to the left which helps to drop the lead shoulder and cause the hips to react by rotating and moving forward which causes the back leg to straighten.

At the very end if the backswing just before maxing out the shoulder turn a slight release of the left side bend will create a similar reaction in the lead hip, lead knee and lead leg. As the shoulders tum nearly back to parallel all the side bend will come out of the spine and that’s the point where powerful ball strikers crank in the right side bend which does many good things for the swing: drops the trail shoulder and causes the lead arm to become more vertical and able to swing down target line dragging club head on the same vector; causes the hips to react opposite the side bending action, around the feet and up which is what actually pulls the lead leg straight.

So it is not any muscular action in the leg pushing it straighter to clear the hips it is the side bending of the spine to the right between shoulders parallel moving the pelvis laterally and tilted up causing body mass to shift backwards into “counter fall” supported by the front foot.

Counter-fall is a balancing act between the mass of the body wanting to fall backwards and the force in the club head still wanting to go forward in the finish. By way of analogy the look and feel is similar to water skiing in which the skier has to lean back to counter the pulling force of the boat. Getting that front leg straight and angled back as demonstrated here is the key to making it happen ideally in the swing.

  15. Have you changed to Jumbomax Tour series grip from ultralite? Why the change and how does the club feel with that extra weight?

  16. Genius!
Feel left shoulder and left hip moving down the hill from the top then add some right side bend before impact 👊

  17. I feel like i'm one of the few that actually has the issue of overdrawing the ball. i have a swingpath thats between 8-10 from the inside (which is impossible to control haha). My guess was that the early extension was causing me to lay the club down to create space for impact. Would this tip fix that type of issue as well?

I do tend to feel like i lead way too much with the hip instead of rotating it.

  18. Best tip ever! Have tried this at the driving range today and it was a game changer really. My biggest problem is that my over body always want to start and by focusing at the left leg strighten up instead I made a great improvement. Thanks a lot, big help for me 🙂

  19. Pete, not sure if it is possible, but it might be helpful to add an (annotated) image to the summary slide that depict the concept.

  20. When you post against the front leg, it creates speed because the club moves faster like cracking a whip or snapping a towel from a fixed point. If the rotation continues, rather than stopping from straightening the leg, speed can't be created because everything is turning at the same rate.
