No. Speed slots degrade over time. They are literally open on the area that contacts the ground. I like to keep my irons. I will NEVER purchase speed slot irons. Never. Trash concept and design.
I hope they're better than the P790s. Took them on the course to try and gave them right back. Very clunky and harsh feeling. Was not impressed.
No. Tried them alongside everything else in my Pro shop. Didn't even come close to the Mizuno JPX923 hotmetal in performance or feel.
Nice review and much welcome. I tested the previous version of the 770 and liked it a lot. This new edition seems to be even better and just as eye catching. Could you let me know which shaft you used in this test (my speed and distance numbers are similar to yours). Thanks.

Not for me mizuno make the best irons in pretty much every category.
They are a bit to good for me
studio…? Why stop with on-course review? Those are so much more fun and, for me, more informative. like the ones from 2-3 years ago, when you guys combined with a short studio review and then out on the course.

Sophie you have 2 slides headed 790’s
Just put these into the bag..I was looking for a consistent carry and these delivered. Most “players game improvement “ irons I’ve tested seem to have issues with hot shots..It’s great to hit your 7 iron 190 yards, but if the target is 165 not so good.
She's talking about clubs that I've no idea about…not a very well constructed video…what on earth are you on about ..

Another ridiculous video click bait title. I sort of understand the YouTube algorithm stuff but wish content creators would trust their content to get views more than stupid titles. And no, they’re clearly not the best irons on the planet as that’s completely subjective. 👍🏻
Interesting to see your perspective. Having tested extensively on the course several previous iterations of golf clubs including the p790 and p770 (previous versions) against others neither made my shortlist and final choice. Was a close call between my two short-lived clubs – jpx 921 and pxg and ended up gaming the pxgs – outstanding feel and consistency. Recently tested the jpx 923 and though cam close to my pxg the shaft options for me were less than desirable so sticking with my pxgs. Would have been tempted to look at the new p770s but based on your review will pass.
I play the P790s and adore them. Never tried the P770s, but like most clubs Taylormade produce they look a cracking set of irons.
Meh… I know there is a lot of buzz around TM irons because of the ongoing success of the P790s, but if I was going to take the plunge, I'd get the MCs. I stop at 5i, though.
