Are Takomo Golf Clubs The Future Of Golf????

Are Takomo Golf clubs the future of golf? Maybe not this particular iron but the business model behind them could well be. The Takomo Golf 201 irons are forged, fantastic and amazing value!!!!

  1. I’ve hit these clubs but decided to use a different DTC company (Haywood) and that harsh top line was one of the reasons! 😂😂

Definitely get fitted at a local fitter, take those specs and order some clubs online. You’ll save a lot of money, even if you build them with all high-end components.

  2. Love the price and they seem to perform great. If the top line looked more like a Titleist T100, I'd be all over those irons.

  3. I'm no longer going to buy anything but DTC iron wise. I went with Sub 70. They have love for lefties. Takomo always promises to have lefties but never does except in the 101s. The other thing with Takomo is it take 3 months to get your clubs. Then another 30 dollars for shipping. Plus upcharges for lie angle, loft, lengthing. With Sub 70 shipping is free. And no tax if bought outside Illinois. No upcharges for anything.

  4. There is not much difference in buying mail order from the major online retailers. You can specify shaft choice with them, and some will allow you to spec other parameters depending on the brand being purchased but your still paying high prices. I bought my PXG driver online tweaking the spec. Ping G400 wood cheap in a clearance sale. Irons second hand via the pro and adjusted for lie angle WilsonD7 forged. No intention of changing unless I have a proper fitting for the driver

  5. Ali can I ask a question I want to by a 4wood what do you think the loft should be (so I can get it in the air )👍

  6. I have seen a few YouTube channels review Takomo and all the reviews appear positive, next time I am in the market for irons I will definitely consider them

  7. Did the price you quoted include 20% import duty for Uk buyers? I bought the 201’s last year and paid import duty plus an “agents fee”. Potential buyers must factor these charges into their calculations.

  8. I wish club makers would give you the sole width of the irons without having to search for it through page after page just to get the info.

  9. The business model is absolutely the way forward as we're seeing even the big manufacturers favour "influencers" over tour pro's. So they should! They won't reduce their prices, though. But that leaves companies like Takomo and Sub70 to nicely fit into that market.

With Takomo you have the problem that there's no UK presence so you could get stung with import tax. I hear they're good with after sales care but how does it work if you have to say send your 5i back because the hosel has come loose after a month? Who pays shipping?

Sub70 have a local presence so that's not a problem. They get my vote. But both have the same business model.

  10. Your strikes all sounded great, but I'd expect that from forged. DTC is an interesting concept–very favorable price point.

  11. Since I am 5'3", I need custom fitted clubs. Although the Takomo website offers custom clubs (shaft, lie, length, grip), you can only buy 4-PW when I was looking at the 101 series. I don't use a 4 & 5 iron. So if they offered a selection of irons similar to PXG they could have a larger market. Given the price of the new drivers, I can see the DTC market peaking a lot of interest if they keep their prices competitive and offer what golfers want.

  12. I am looking to upgrade from my starter set. I did consider Takomo. The problem for me is, I have never been fitted, therefore don’t know all my specs. I have figured some of it out , but even with that Takomo didn’t have the exact shaft and grips I wanted. And since I have never hit a ball with them, how can I feel confident enough to spend the money on them? I would rather spend more for a set I am confident in. I just wish the major companies weren’t that expensive. My fitting is scheduled for March. If Takomo had fittings in my area, I would definitely be trying them. They look fantastic. But so do Ping irons. And Srixon. And Mizuno.

  13. I play PXG clubs, they only sell directly to customers. Are they as good as the new 0211 irons, because mine work great for me. BUT, I can add length to them, because I'm 6'6, so I added 1¹/²" to my irons and 1" to my metals. Do they offer that as well??

  14. I bought the 101’s and got them in December… played6-7 rounds so far.. I love them…. Saw this morning they are coming out with an 18* driving iron…can’t wait to order it
