MacGregor Tourney MT “Wingback” irons. #golf

With the recent release by MacGregor of the MT-86 irons, now would be an excellent time to look at the clubs that inspired them. Originally introduced in 1950, the MT wingback is one of my favourite MacGregor designs.

  1. Beautiful irons! You have a seriously impressive collection of golf equipment, I really enjoy watching your videos with all of the historical information you provide us.

  2. I ran across a set of these 1983 Colokrome irons awhile ago, and they were such a great bargain that I purchased them. They are indeed beautiful! I play them fairly regularly, and they often get compliments from other golfers.

  3. Whilst I do prefer your full reviews with on course content such as this great video, I have been enjoying your ""short" videos too. I think you have space on your channel for both. Please keep up the good work, sharing your fantastic knowledge of all things classic golf.

  4. Oh I definitely need a set of "Wingbacks". I knew they were McGregor's but I didn't know the moniker.

  5. Good stuff! I so enjoy the history of the clubs. Keep up the good work. I enjoy everything you put out.

  6. Well done on buying the MacGregors which differ slightly to the original M-85 by being taller in the face, the originals were quite low profile with a thickish top line,I have a set of Flame Ceramic LH2's which are the left handed version from 1959,identical to the M-85 apart from dexterity.
The set runs 3-9 then a double duty pitching/sand wedge which is very heavy with a groove splitting the sole likely to achieve some bounce, they play very well and feel solid.
    Toney Penna was no mug!
The 'shorts' are perfect for the golfing collectables that you've uploaded.
