  1. Perfect timing for this one. I have been pondering the thumb placement and this video nailed the answer. Thanks!

  2. I'm confused. I thought in a previous video you had recommended a much stronger grip 'looking for 2 or 3 knuckles on the lead hand'?
Love you teaching – trying to incorporate all that you teach in the VLS:)

  3. Hi Todd. Writing to you from snowy Montreal; great time of year to work on fundamentals like a good grip. You mention that the thumbs should be snug and short. Can you detail where on the shaft the thumbs should be? Inline with the shaft or to one side etc? Love your instruction style and channel.

  4. Here’s a great way to perfect how to hold the club…. Practice one-handed swings with both hands separately. You’ll find it impossible to have any control, or leverage, if not holding it properly(in the fingers). You’ll also figure out how strong or weak both hands need to be to set the club properly, and start your ball online.

  5. Thanks Todd for the grip tip. One suggestion, have Nick zoom in on your grip as you're explaining the technique, especially on the trigger finger description. Thanks.

  6. My Gosh you make this game so much easier. Thx from a reletively new, "experienced Golfer, in Michigan.

  7. Joke: I do wear out the glove a lot but I played a lot of golf lol
Coach I'll try that on the Range to get accustomed to the feel.

  8. Looks like the lead hand is partially in the palm, near the base of the fingers. I always have the grip in my fingers. Is that wrong?
    Thanks😊

  9. So the thumbs should be slightly right on the lead hand and slightly left on the trail hand?

  10. I tend toward being a hooker. My current hybrid-iron set have a fair amount of offset. How does this affect my grip. Should I try a more neutral grip to "offset" the "offset"?

  11. Thanks, i never knew about the long thumb before. made a big difference. Is interlock or overlap just a preference.. or is there and advantage using one or the other?

  12. My pro has been trying to get me to do this for years! 90% of my bad shots come from a poor grip and My glove shows lots of wear in the heel pad. I could never understand why I was getting the wear if I started out alright. It must be a long thumb! Sometimes it almost feels like I’m re-gripping at the top! I’ll give this a try tomorrow and report back.
