2023 has just begun, yet much fascinating new technology will be released this year. Costco, the manufacturer of Kirkland golf equipment, has emerged as an early front-runner for the title of the most exciting launch of the year.

On January 1st, an image of a new iron appeared on the conforming list maintained by the United States Golf Association (USGA). After having great success with Kirkland balls, gloves, wedge sets, and putters under the franchise, Costco is ready to join the irons market with its first set sold under the Kirkland name. This should not be confusing given the proliferation of low-cost irons with hollow bodies on the market; nonetheless, it does come as a great surprise.

A post on the USGA website titled “(Version 2)” illustrates that the concept has been an ongoing work in progress for a considerable amount of time. This makes a lot of sense in light of the meteoric rise in the popularity of golf.
