Lake Sunapee Country Club with Hickory Golf Clubs – Hickory Golf Course Vlog #40

A shot-by-shot hickory golf course vlog featuring Long Island, NY-based hickory golfer Christian Williams playing hickory golf at Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London, NH. Williams is a golf historian with a high handicap, sharing his passion for the game through this channel where he shows how to collect, repair, and play with antique, wood-shafted golf clubs. In this round, Williams, is using his pre-1935 “modern” hickory golf set featuring authentic 1920s and early 1930s golf clubs (details below). Welcome to the channel!

Lake Sunapee Country Club was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1928. Thanks to recent restoration efforts, the current layout is very close to Ross’ original design and it stands as an excellent example of Ross’ work. So enamored with the course, golf legend Gene Sarazen called Lake Sunapee home during the summer and owned a house on the course. The clubhouse features a small museum of Sarazen-related golf memorabilia. For more information about Lake Sunapee Country Club, visit here: https://www.lakesunapeecc.com/

While private, Lake Sunapee C.C. hosts an annual event of hickory golf called the Lake Sunapee Hickory Classic. Organized by David Webster, the event is open to the public … so long as you play hickory golf clubs. This round was recorded during the 2022 event. 1. Just got a new Tom Stewart mongrel mashie for my bag. Has an X in a box stamped on it. Any idea what that mark means? Another great video!
