How To Squat & Jump For Power in the Golf Swing

The role of the legs in the golf swing is a huge key to develop POWER and CONSISTENCY in your golf swing.

The legs are the foundation of the swing, as well as the point from which the pivot begins and from where much power is produced.

Many elite golfers use their leg to push up ⬆️ through impact to increase club head speed, however, most amateur golfers fail to utilise this potential power at all, or if they try to, do it incorrectly leading to mis- struck shots and loss of power.

This video explores the may to move the legs (and the rest of the body) from the extended condition that the legs/body are in at the top of the backswing, back into flexion on the downswing, before extending again through impact and into the follow-through. This is the SQUAT & JUMP you see so many long hitters demonstrating.

  1. another great video!!!…today I was actually working on what feeling I need to start the downswing and discovered that by feeling like I start from P4 , using body rotation and not my arms , it helps me get faster rotation and through the ball effortlessly…. now I will try adding in some leg flex and extension thru impact …thanks much…

  2. Thanks for this tip. Just trying to get back into golf after a heart attack and 20 years away from golf. Will work on this and let you know.
