COVER The Golf Ball And Properly Hit Down w/ Your Irons (Wrist Extension SECRET)

Let’s further examine one of the key traits of my swing philosophy, trail wrist extension, and why it is so crucial for those of you looking to properly cover the golf ball. Maybe you keep telling yourself, I just need to hit down on the golf ball more, or I am not hitting down on golf ball correctly because my weight isn’t enough on my left side, or I need to keep my head down? What if I told you one of the main reasons you likely aren’t compressing the golf ball and creating the downward angle of attack you desire is because your hands and wrists simply aren’t operating in a dynamic way. In this video, fellow Milo Lines Golf academy coach, Ed Lasater from San Diego and I walk you through this key delivery angle I see amongst the games best and you’ve likely seen me stress numerous times on this channel. Better impact and shaft lean await, I hope you enjoy!

  1. Fantastic info! A question – how is Rory able to hit the ball so high, yet still extremely far? Or, should it rather be, so far and yet extremely high 🙂

  2. How? Lead side turns corner….lead leg push back?
Milo, your head is turned so far forward in the downswing you must have third eye around your right ear.

  3. Unless the camera angle was off, it looked like you hit that face on view ball from your back ear, not the front. What club did you hit?

  4. This seems a function of how much lowering there is as the player transitions, as most/all pros lower as Milo shows in his other videos. If you lower but keep a reasonable club plane then you have to get the club handle in front of the body (and therefore use right hand wrist extension), or hit the ground way before the ball and dig out a huge divot.

  5. I’ve been working on staying “down” & “turning” through the down swing. It’s a work in progress. I’ve gone from 4* up with a 7 iron to 3* down. The swing you make in this video raises an important part of staying down & rotating through impact, & that is your head must turn towards the target some. Especially as we get older & less flexible. I’ve been working on the head turning in the down swing (slightly), & what a huge difference it has made!! Thanks for the great content, I hope to be at one of your clinics one day! 💪👍🏻🇺🇸

  6. How would someone make a good “Milo style” pivot but try to have less shaft lean (because they swing slower). It seems to me to reduce the lean would result in an inability to maintain good hip flexion and rotation because basically you’d chunk it every time.

  7. So what speed does a golfer need to know when they need shaft lean? I guess shot shape? When we first met I had those really high shots but I also knew that was because I was flippy…not sure if it was because of speed.

  8. It is so hard to train myself to just turn and tow without adding any right hand throw in it. I love watching you demonstrate it slowly Milo. Thanks.

  9. At what or any point do you have a weight shift, most people say it needs to be right before the top of the back swing. It appears that when you make your squat move and at impact your weight is somewhat neutral. What would you say your weight is at impact? 60% front, 40% back foot?

  10. My buddy, who takes lessons and is improving rapidly, showed me he was working on this very thing Saturday, that little shallowing at the transition, which he calls, "The Move!"

  11. This is genuine gold. It really is.
Its the first time ive personally heard about the degree of lean is proportional to the person essentially (aka what speed they can generate).
Combining the amount of trail wrist extension with the proper body turn is CRITICAL. Otherwise, it seems like a timing game (never works)
    Good Stuff Guys!

  12. This makes sense but when you have flipped your hands at it for years it isn't easy to stop doing that. This is the way. I shall master it

  13. Very concise – love it. Add the “nail” intention a la AJ Bonar and you get the attack angle and contact right as well – not too much more to it

  14. From like 5:30 to 5:32 i didnt see any chest or shoulder rotation. It was all arms goin up. Is that normal? I usually see chest rotation with hands out in front.

  15. I have watched a lot of your YouTube videos including best golf training aids.

What would be your advice on training aids with a lot of tech out there

Example.. hanger vs hack motion or do they do the same thing. Hack motion just gives more data?

    Dewiz vs plane station
